INFANTS DRESSING TABLE.
Application filed September 14, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HAROLD L. CALDWELL and MARCUS A. CALDWELL, citizens of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Infants? Dressing Tables, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to pro vide an infants dressing table "of simple and inexpensive form, adapted to be folded so as to be conveniently stored or transported and so that its top can be removed and washed for reuse. A further object of the invention is the provision in connection with such a table of convenient means for holding articles used in connection with taking care of infants.
The invention is embodied in the example herein shown and described, the features of novelty being finally claimed.
In the accompanying 'drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of the table with a portion of the top broken out.
Fig. 2 is a view of the same when folded.
In the views 5 and 6 designate two pairs of legs, each constituting a leg frame, which are hinged at their middles in parallel relation. The character 7 designates a top or frame of rigid rectangular form which is hinged at two of its corners to the rear upper ends of the legs 5 so as to be capable of swinging to a position between said legs.
The upper forward ends of the legs 6 are connected by means of a rod 8 and the end members of the table top frame are extended forward beyond the front rail of said frame and provided with a notch 9 or any suitable means whereby said top may be engaged with and supported by the rod 8. The rod 8 thus affords a rack for towels, wash cloths and the like as well as a holder for pockets on receptacles 12 for the reception of soap, a brush and other toilet articles. Said rod 8 also serves as a brace be tween the forward upper ends of the legs.
Serial No. 662,628.
10 designates the table top which consists of a flexible member of canvas or other suitable material as for example canvas or ducking and the same is provided with snap buttons 13 of the glove fastener type adapted to engage cooperating members on the front and rear rails of the table frame. When the flexible table top becomes soiled it is easily and quickly removed for washing it.
To fold the structure thus described the top frame is lifted off the rod 8 and turned on its permanent hinge at the rear into position between the members of the leg frame 5 to coincide therewith and then the leg frame 6 folded into coincidence with the leg frame 5. lVhen so folded the structure occupies small space either for storage or transportation.
The forms of the parts can be changed without departing from the gist of the invention as claimed.
hat we claim is:
1. A. dressing table including, in combination, a pair of folding leg frames hinged to 70 gether near their middles one within the other, arigid rectangular table-top frame having end members projecting forwardly beyond said frame when in horizontal position, means hinging said table-top frame at its rear to the upper end of the inner leg frame, and a bar connecting the sides of the upper end of the outer leg frame, the forwardly projecting end members of the tabletop frame having means to engage said bar whereby a vertically open space is provided between the forward end of said table-top frame and said bar.
2. A dressing table including, in combination, a pair of folding leg frames hinged to- 85 gether near their middles, a rigid rectangular table-top frame having end members projecting forwardly beyond said frame when in horizontal position, means hinging said table-top frame at its rear to the upper end of one of the leg frames, and a towel bar connecting the sides of the upper end of the other leg frame and cooperating with the in horizontal position, means hinging said forwardly projecting end members of the table top frame at its rear to the upper end table-top frame. of one of the leg frames and a towel bar at 10 3. A dressing table including, in combina the other leg frame engaging said forwardly 5 ti a i f f ldi l frames hi ed t projecting portions spaced horizontally from gether near their middles a rigid rectangu- Sald t p lar table-top frame having end members pro- HAROLD L.
