IMPROVEMENT IN CORSETS.
J Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 54,027, dated August ll, 1874; application filed June 13, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE B. DYER, of Washington, in the county of Washington and District of Columbia, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Corsets and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings making. a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon V t Figure l of the drawing is a representation of a front view of my corset, and Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same. Figs. 3, 4, 5, and 6 are detail views.
This invention has relation to ladies corsets, wherein stay-bows are used inside of those portions which cover the breasts, for the-purpose of giving beauty of shape to said portions. The ends of such stay-bows have hitherto been covered, and secured to the body of the corsets by means of pieces of cloth, forming pockets, which in a short time would wear out, and expose the ends of the bows, to the injury and inconvenience of the wearer. To remedy this objection, the nature of my invention consists in the employment of metal pockets, having clinching spurs formed on them, by which they can be readily and securely fastened to the corset, as will be hereinafter explained.
