T all lwhom it may conce/rn Be it known that l, Roemer D. Dononn'n, a citizen of the United States, and resident o'i tde city of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Flowerlll caring llevice, of which the following is a speciii'cation.

rllhis invention relates to devices intended to aid in the wearing of flowers by providing a means wherewith the stems or the flowers are held together and supported, and a further means wherewith the" latter means is secnred tothe garment of the wearer. 4

The principal object of my invention is to provide simplified, inex aensive, conven iently and economically manulacturable, conveniently utilizable, strong, durable, eicient, and improved device for the above ientioned purpose.

Other objectsand advantages will hereinafter appear.

The invention herein is an improvement upon my previousinvention shown and described in my patentapplication, Serial No. @6,35% tiled August 8, 1923.

The device l, proper, comprises a body portion 2 ot suitable metal, which is preterably elongated and concave, in crosswectional configuration, as shown in Fig. 3, and is provided with two or more wires 3. each o't` which is independent of the body 2 and the midway port-ion of which winds around the body in the manner shown in AFigs. l, The body 2 is provided for each ot' the wires V3 with pairs ot indentations 2a at the sides thereof, a notch e in the front side thereof, and with a wider notch 5 directly at the rear ot notch 4l at the opposite or rear side ot the bot y, whereby as the wire S is wound therearound, the sides ot' the coil rest in the indentations 2a, the peak 6 of the coil is lodged Serial No. 680,333.

It the body-portion 2 and pin-portion l0 are stamped out of a single piece of shectanetal, the body portion Q may be given a medium hardness and the pin portion l() may be given a spring.r hardness The transverse wires 5l are sott, pliable, and readily yieldable.

vVhen'using this device the stems ll ot the flowers are placed into the concave side oi? the body-portion 2, as shown in Fig. l, and then the wires are bent over the stems and against the body 2, and are twisted around each other. in the manner shown in F Ll, whereby the llowcr stems are irmly held together against the body-portion and are backed and fully reinforced by the latter, and the wires 3 yicldingly adjust themselves to the transverse configuration of the stems and support them firmly and uniformly. The device may be then attached to the garment by means ot the pin l0, in the usual etlective manner. The body-portion Q is preferably made in the concave cross-sectional conliguration shown to afford a better receiving means lor the flower stems. To renew the flowers it merely requires nntwisting yand bending back of the wires il to the position shown in Fig. l, removing the old flowers and placing back the new, and then securing the new flowers in the manner shown in Fig. e. VJ hen removing the flowers from the lapel it is not necessary to unpin the device trom the garment, as the device may continue to stay in its place and thc wearer may manipulate the wires El by the sense ot touch, in which the wearer would be guided by the enlarged spherical terminals 9. The spherical terminals 9 also cnable fastening or tying up the wires 3 at their ends, in case a large bouquet is held in the device, by means of a merc twist of the terminals laterally about each other. Said spherical terminals also serve to prevent catching in the garment, add to the better lll) appearance of the terminals, and aid generally in the manipulation oi" the wires 8.

Should the wires 3 break or become too kinked after some use, the same may be discarded and a new similar wire substituted, without however requiring renewal ot' the main or body-portion of the device, and, the wires 3 being cheap, a continuous and very long use may be thus had ofthe device at only van occasional slight .additional expense, the renewal of the wire 3 merely requiring a one-turn twist ot' the same about the notches 4f, 5 Lof the body 2. The device shown in Figs. 5, 6 is adapted for use in connection Vwith large bouquets. According to this modification, the body 2 is provided with a plurality of eyes 12, and several wires 13 .which thread through said eyes, andtheirmiddle portions 14 are disposed against the rear side of the body 2.

. vWhen using rthis device, the' .stems 11 of the flowers are placed. against the front concave. side 15 'of the bodyportion, and each of .the wires 13 is tied up around the stems of the flowers in the manner shown. The body .2 is provided with a pin 16 which serves for vfastening the device to the garment, and it is provided with an auxiliary pin 17, with which it is also secured to the garment and which .serves to steady .the

device, after it is fastened with the pin 11, so as to maintain the device and the iiowers firmly held in place against dislocation in any direction.

Variations may be resorted to within the scope ot' theinvention. V

Having thus' described my invention, I claim 1. A flower wearing device having the combination of a body portionl'forbacking the flower stems, a series oit openings at each side of said body portion, and a wire disposed against the rear oit said portion and passing, through said openings for tastening the stems to said portion.
