R. KASTL ET AL WATCH EKPOSING GLOVE Filed NOV. '7, 1923 mm Mu Patented Jan. 27, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT KASTL AND STEPHANIA KASTL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
WATCH-EXPOSING GLOVE.
Application filed November 7, 1923.
T 0 aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ROBERT KAs'rL and STEPHANIA KAsrL, citizens of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in lVatch-Exposing Gloves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to the arrangement of a glove and wrist watch, or like articles, for the exposure of the latter through the glove, the invention having for an object the provision of an arrangement which will permit of the exposure of the article, a further specific object relating to the covering of the opening in the glove, and the mountin of the watch.
or further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
Fig. l of the drawing is a rear elevational view showing the glove as arranged to expose a wrist watch.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the supplementary flap which may be employed to cover the opening in th glove.
Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view taken on the line 3-8 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a detail rear view showing the clip element on the watch.
Referring now to the drawing the reference numeral indicates a glove of ordinary construction. In the back of this glove, at the wrist thereof, we form an opening 11 which may be either circular, oval, rectangular, or other desired shape according to the shape of the watch or article which it is desired to expose. Ornamental stitching may surround this opening. This opening may serve to expose a watch 15 as indicated in Fig. 1 which might be secured to the wrist by the usual wristband or bracelet, although we refer the novel means shown in Fig. 3, and to which reference will presently be made. A pair of snap fastener elements 16 are preferably mounted in the glove at opposite sides of the opening and a separate flap or cover 17 of like material to the glove may Serial No. 673,241.
be placed over the opening 11 to conceal the latter when the watch is not worn, this cover having extensions 17 provided with snap fastener elements 16 complementary to the elements 16 and adapted to engage the latter to hold the cover in place.
As shown in Fig. 4 the watch may have attached to the back thereof a resilient wire 20 the point of attachment of the wire to the watch being midway between its ends, the wire being bent into two reaches 20 which extend parallel to one another across the back of the watch, and then are bent away from one another in the form of bows 20 which project beyond the edge of the watch as shown to form clips which engage under the edge of the opening 11. Secured to the inner face of the glove is a patch 23 which registers with the opening 11 and is slightly larger than the latter, leaving an annular pocket 24 in which the bow elements 20 engage to hold the watch in place, and which can be compressed to remove the watch.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows:
1. A glove provided with an aperture therein for exposure of a watch, a patch on the inner face of said glove registering with said aperture and leaving an annular pocket surrounding said aperture, a watch seating in said pocket, and resilient elements carried by said watch and normally projecting beyond the edge of the watch and into the said pocket to hold said watch in place.
2. A glove provided with an aperture therein for exposure of a watch, a patch on the inner face of said glove registering with said aperture and leaving an annular pocket surrounding said aperture, a watch seating on said patch, and resilient means holding said watch in place, said means comprising a wire attached between its ends to the baclt of the watch and having outwardly bowed reaches projected beyond the confines of the watch.
In testimony whereof we have afiixed our signatures.
ROBERT KASTL. STEPHANIA KASTL.
