Be it known that I, EMMA D. WANenmN, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Handkerchief Retainer for Gloves, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in handkerchief retainers for gloves.

My object is to provide a glove or other hand covering with a means, of simple and inexpensive construction, for holding a handkerchief, or other article.

My improvements consist in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts, as fully, clearly and concisely set forth in the following specification, definitely pointed out in my claim and illustrated by the accompanying drawing, in which- Fig. l is a perspective view of a glove, embodying my improvements, as worn and used to hold a hankerchief.

Referring to the drawing by numerals t designates the glove, or hand covering, and 5 its wrist portion whereat there is provided means, for securing it about the wrist of the wearer, such as the snap fate tenors 6.

At a point, preferably over the back of the hand covering, opposite the fasteners 6, and at or adjacent the wrist portion 5 thereof, I secure my holder or retainer 7, which, as shown is a tape-like element, having a trend substantially transversely of the hand coverin and its major portion free from the hand covering, whereby to permit of the ready, facile, insertion and withdrawal of the article, such as the handkerchief shown.

In the form shown, the retainer 7, is a strip of material, preferably like or simulating the material of the glove, having its ends secured, to the body of the glove, as by stitches 8, and such strip between its secured ends is of a length substantially the same the expanse, or glove material lying between the points of securement of the holder. By this arrangement and considering the fasteners 6, I provide a loop, which, when the fasteners are relatively separated, readily receives an article, and which loop, when the fasteners are united becomes taut and capable of exerting pressure upon the article whereby its possibility of loosing therefrom is minimized Having thus described my invention what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent of the United Stains, therefor, is

In combination with a hand covering having separable devices for securing it upon the hand, a tape like element secured to the hand covering between said securing devices at its ends only and with its body portion free from the hand covering between its secured ends, whereby said body portion will be taut or loose from the hand covering as the fastening or securing devices of the hand covering are relatively united or separated substantially as shown and for the purposes stated.
