Abstract

A pre-functionalized boxing glove that includes a padded main body, a padded thumb-receiving portion, a supportive wrist portion, and a moisture removal apparatus secured to the thumb-receiving portion or the wrist portion. The pre-functionalized glove, and more particularly, the moisture removal apparatus, allows for a boxer to remove bodily fluids safely and effectively, thereby minimizing and/or preventing contact between the bodily fluids and the boxer's eyes.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE DISCLOSED EMBODIMENTS
  • The presently disclosed embodiments generally relate to a gloves used for boxing or boxing related exercising, and more particularly, to a boxing glove containing a moisture removal apparatus.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSED EMBODIMENTS
  • The use of a glove for boxing or boxing related exercises is well known in the art. Generally, a conventional boxing glove is secured to a user's hand using a fastening means around the user's wrist. During the course of a fight, or during exercising, the user exudes a tremendous amount of energy which results in the user perspiring at a high level. In the some instances a user may receive a cut due to the strike of an opponent. When these instances occur, the user must wait until the end of the round, or the end of the exercise routine, to effectively remove blood or perspiration away from the face area. To do so requires the user to remove the boxing glove from the hand and use a towel. This delay may cause blood or perspiration to enter the fighter or exerciser's eyes, causing discomfort and a temporary inability to see. There is, therefore, a need for a means to help remove blood and perspiration away from the face area without having to remove the boxing glove.
  • SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSED EMBODIMENTS
  • In one aspect, a boxing glove is provided. The boxing glove includes a padded main body having a first side and a second side. The padded main body further includes a palm side extending between the first side and the second side, and a back side extending between the first side and the second side opposite the palm side. The padded main body further includes a wrist portion extending between the first side and the second side, and defining a bottom end including an opening. The boxing glove further includes a padded thumb-receiving portion disposed along at least a portion of one of the first side and the second side of the padded main body. The boxing glove further includes a moisture removal apparatus affixed to at least one of the padded main body and the padded thumb-receiving portion.
  • In one embodiment, the boxing glove further includes a slit extending through the bottom end and through the wrist portion along the palm side of the main body. In one embodiment, the boxing glove further includes a string member laced along either side of and across the slit.
  • In one embodiment, the at least one of the padded main body and the padded thumb-receiving portion include at least one first fastening means. In one embodiment, the at least one first fastening means is sewn to the at least one of the padded main body and the padded thumb-receiving portion. In one embodiment, the at least one first fastening means includes a hook and loop fastener.
  • In one embodiment, the moisture removal apparatus may be detachable. In one embodiment, the moisture removal apparatus may be designed to be disposable. In one embodiment, the moisture removal apparatus includes at least one second fastening means affixed to a side of the moisture removal apparatus. In one embodiment, the at least one second fastening means includes a hook and loop fastener. In one embodiment, the moisture removal apparatus is affixed the at least one of the padded main body and the padded thumb-receiving portion by mating the first fastening means to the second fastening means.

It will be appreciated that the moisture removal apparatus may be comprised of any material suitable for the removal of moisture from the body (e.g. cloth or paper towel material to name just two non-limiting examples).
  • In one embodiment, the moisture removal apparatus 30 includes at least one second fastening means 38 affixed to the moisture removal apparatus 30. In one embodiment, the at least one second fastening means 38 includes a hook and loop fastener. It will be appreciated that other fastening means may be used (e.g. snaps or buttons to name just two non-limiting examples) for securing the moisture removal apparatus 30 the at least one of the padded main body 12 and the padded thumb-receiving portion 28. In one embodiment, the moisture removal apparatus 30 is affixed the at least one of the padded main body 12 and the padded thumb-receiving portion 28 by mating the first fastening means 36 to the second fastening means 38.
