1 Claim. (Cl. 40-10) This invention relates to license and seal holders for carrying hunting licenses and seals such as placed on deer and other game after it has been shot by the hunter.

Where licenses are pinned or otherwise secured in place on a hunting coat, there arises the hazards of tear, due to the license snagging or being caught on fences as the hunter crawls under or climbs over, also danger of snagging on brush, etc. as the hunter travels through wooded areas. The license is supposed to be worn when hunting, but on warm days the hunter sometimes removes his coat, making necessary the unpinning of the license and repinning onto the hunters shirt. This is both irritating and time consuming and I have therefore designed a holder for the license which requires no pins and which can be slipped on and otf the same as a vest.

One of the prime objects of the invention is to provide a license holder including resilient arm loops, the ends of which are attached to the end corners of the holder so that the holder can be worn on the back and supported by the resilient arm loops without pinning or otherwise fas tening the holder to the wearers garments, eliminating the possibility of tearing the hunters clothes as above referred to.

Another object is to design a license holder which is not fastened to the hunters hunting coat or clothing but which slips on and oil similar to a vest so that the hunters coat or other outer clothing can be removed when the weather is uncomfortably warm, and the license holder removed and replaced in the manner described.

A further object is to provide a license holder open at one end to admit the license and deer seal and provide a snap fastening means at the open end to form a closure for same and to secure and anchor the seal in the holder.

Still a further object is to design a very simple, practical and inexpensive article of manufacture, that can be readily manufactured and assembled with a minimum of labor, time and equipment.

With the above and other objects in view the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim, it being understood that changes may be made in the form, size, proportion, and minor details of construction without departing in the spirit, or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention. In the drawing Fig. l is a rear elevational view showing the holder in position on a hunters back.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged face elevational view of the holder and resilient straps, showing also a conventional license, in position in the holder.

Fig. 3 is a sectional elevational view taken on line 33 of Fig. 2.

Referring now more particularly to the drawing in which I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention. The numeral 5 indicates a rectangularly shaped holder formed of a folded strip of transparent plastic material. This is sewed, as at 6, around the top, bottom, and one end to form a pocket in which the license L is placed, and the ends of a pair of resilient strips 7 are anchored to the ends of the holder by stitching or the like, and form loops 8 so that the hunters arms can be inserted therethrough and the loops worn over the hunters shoulders, these strips being of suflicient length to permit the wearer to place his arms through the loops in much the same manner as he or she puts on a vest or other garment, the resilience of the strips permitting necessary freedom of movement by the hunter.

In hunting deer, or other big game it is usually necessary to purchase a seal S as well as a license, and inasmuch as the seal is usually formed of metal it ofttimes becomes misplaced or lost. Deer seals in several states are provided with an opening or eye 9 adjacent to one end thereof, and this opening is placed between the two halves of a standard fastener and when the fastener is snapped shut, the seal will be firmly held in position between the license and the back face of the holder.

From the foregoing description it will be obvious that I have perfected a very simple, practical, and inexpensive combination license and seal holder which eliminates the use of pins, and which can be put on or removed the same as a vest, coat, or other garment.

What I claim is:

Apparatus for accommodating and displaying a hunting license or the like on the body of a person, said apparatus comprising a flat rectangular sheath having two closely spaced, substantially parallel walls at least one of which is transparent, said sheath having an open edge through which the license or the like may be inserted; an elongate elastic fabric band at each end of the sheath connected to the sheath with the free ends of each band secured to the same end of said sheath at the corners thereof, to form unconnected stretchable loops each receiving one of the persons arms and shoulders whereby said sheath may be held snugly on the persons back with said transparent wall facing rearwardly of the person.
