UNETED STATES PATENT FFECE.
'HOLDER FOR STICKS OF SHAVING SOAI?.
Application filed December 13, 1921. Serial No. 521,999.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, Ronnn'r BROWN, of Agharainy, Donaghmore, county Tyrone, Ireland, a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, have invented certain new and useful Holders for Sticks of Shaving Soap, of which the following is a specication.
This invention relates to sticks of shaving soap, and to holders therefor, of the holdertop type.
According to this invention the holdertop comprises an open ended tube, a ring within the tube and surrounding` the soap, a lip on the forward end of the tube extending inwardly and overlapping the adjacent end of the ring to hold it from forward movement, and an oriflced flange projecting inwardly7 at the rear end and overlapping the soap whereby the soap is prevented from leaving the tube at that end but may be pushed forward from that end as it is consumed.
The rear end of the tube is in two parts,
the one part in the form of a cover with an inwardly projecting flange screwing on to the other part. A bead may be provided on the exterior of the tube to act as a stopper for the usual soap stick case, and there may be a spring between the tube and the soap to ret-ard the forward movement of the soap.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation of a stick of shaving soap in one example of a holder top according to the invention.
Fig. 2 is a section on the line -ag Fig. l.
Referring to the drawings :n
In the example shown in Figs. l and 2, the soap stick l is inserted, at one end, into a paper ring 2 and dropped into a short metal tube 3, which is made with an annular outwardly extending projection t, and an inwardly extending lip 5 at its inner end. At its outer end, the tube 3 is externally screw threaded to receive a clamping ring or top cover 6, having a hole 7 therein, and between this ring or cover 6 and the end'of the soap stick, I provide a disc or loose plate 8 of paper or cork or equivalent. The projection et acts as a stopper for the soap stick case (not shown).
Having now fully described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A holder top for a stick of shaving soap comprising an open ended tube, a ring within the tube and surrounding the soap, a lip on the forward end of the tube extending inwardly and overlapping the adjacent end of the ring to hold it from forward movement, and an oriiced ange projecting inwardly at the rear end and overlapping the soap whereby7 the soap is prevented from leaving the tube at that end but may be pushed forward from that end as it is consuined.
2. A holder top for a stick of shaving soap comprising an open ended tube, a ring within the tube and surrounding the soap, a lip on the forward end oft-he tube extending inwardly and overlapping the adjacent end of the ring to hold it from forward movement, a cover screwed on to the rear end of the tube, said cover comprising an orificed flange projecting inwardly and overlapping the soap whereby the soap is prevented from leaving the tube at that end but may be pushed forward from that end as it is consumed, and a loose disc between the soap and the cover.
3. A holder top for a stick of shaving soap comprising an open ended tube, a ring within the tube and surrounding the soap, a lip on the forward end of the tube extending inwardly and overlapping the adjacent end of the ring to hold it from forward movement, a cover' screwed on to the rear end of the tube, said cover comprising an orificed flange on the cover projecting inwardly and overlapping the soap whereby the soap is prevented from leaving the tube at that end but may be pushed forward from that end as it is consumed, a, loose disc between the soap and the cover and anoutwardly extending bead on the tube to act as a stopper for a soap stick case.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ROBERT BROWN.
