SHAVING STICK APPLICATION FILED JAN. 22, 1919.

SHAVING-STICK- Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Oct 26, 1920,
Application filed January 22, 1919. SerialNo. 272,574.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT BROWN, a
subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Donaghmore, county Tyrone, Ireland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shaving-Sticks, of which the to waste a minimum amount of soap and to insure that no rough or sharp surface can rub against the face of the user.
The invention is best described by reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure lis a perspective view of the head while Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of the head showing the stick of soap and arranged in a cardboard or metal case. cross section showinga modified form of head.
In Figs. 1 and Q, the head, is provided with an internal flange 2, which has a con vex curvature with respect to the end of the stick which has to be applied to the face. 3 is a convex boss, while 4 is an external flange. I
The soap is filled into the head by placing a cylinder (not shown) over the internal flange of the head, and forcing in the soap by means of a plunger.
The head is arranged to fit inside a container 6, which may be made of metal or cardboard, and it will be seen that by the method of filling described above, the soap 5 is out of contact with the container 6.
When the stick is used, it will be seen that it is firmly held by the head 1, althoughonly a minimum quantity of soap is inclosed between the flange 2 and the .boss 3. When the soap has all beenused, the face comes into contact either with the curved surface of the internal flange 2 or with the smooth surface of the boss 3.
Fig. 3 is a Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the convex boss 7 of somewhat difi'erent form, is
employed. In this case the curved internal :flangemay be replaced by a bead 8. Otherwise the arrangement is the same as in Fig. 2. i
If desired, the head shown in Fig. 1 ma be made of metal all in one piece. I
I declare that what I claim is z- 1. A shaving stick and holder formed of a stick of soap held within a shallow cylindrical metallic cap having an internal proj ection and an internal boss whereby an annular space is left between the boss and the interior of the cylinder and its projection which space is filled with soap and a naked projecting stick of soap of the required length projecting from the cylinder head.
2. Ashaving stick holder formed ofa shallow cylindrical cap having an internal con vex boss and-an internally smooth edge annular projection whereby an annular space is left between the boss and the interior of the cylinder, a stick of soap made to fill theinterior of the cap and projecting therefrom, and a box fittingthe outside of the cap, andstanding. clear of the wrapper around it. y
3. shaving stick formed of a shallow cylindrical metal cap having aninternal convex boss gradually curving from the cylinder walls inward and an internal annular projection with the said head and a stick 7 of soap filling the head and projecting therefrom. i
In witness whereof, I have hereunto signed my name this 30th day of December,
1918, in the presence of two subscribing wit nesses. I
ROBERT BROWN.
