WILLIAM J. HELMQUEST, F SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR TO CALIFOR- ITIA CARD MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAN IPQBJATION 01 CALIFORNIA.
FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, A COF- IVJZOUNTING FOR PHOTOGRAPHS, ETC.
Application filed December 27, 1922. Serial No. 609,335i
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. Hanan QUEST, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city and county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Mountings for Photographs, Etc, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a mounting for 1 photographs and the like, and hasfor its object to provide a mounting which will serve also as an easel or support for displaying the photograph or picture.
One form which my invention may as sume is exemplified in the following description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Fig'. 1 shows a view of the front of the mounting in folded or closed position.
Fig. 2 shows a side elevation of the same in standing position.
Fig. 3 shows a front elevation of the same in standing position.
The mounting here shown comprises a back section 10 of cardboard or the like hav ing side flaps or wings 11, one wing being provided with a tongue 12 and. the other wing having slits 13 to receive the tongue. The back section has pockets 14 or the like to receive a photograph or picture and the side wings are adapted to fold flat against the front of the picture for the purpose of protecting the same, as shown in Fig. '1. At this time the tongue is inserted in the inner- 5 most slit 13 to retain the wings in closed is that it costs no more to make than the ordinary mounting and can be used to support the picture in standing position in addition to serving as a protection for the picture at other times.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A photographic mounting comprising a back section to receive a photograph or other picture, a wing on each side of the back section foldable in front of the latter to protect the picture, said wings being movable to the rear of the back section, a tongue on'one of said wings, the other wing being provided with a slit to receive said tongue whereby to connect the two wings together to retain them in position at an acute angle to the back section for supporting the mounting in a position where the photo graph or picture will be displayed.
2. A mount for a photograph, picture, etc. consisting of a central supporting member, movable flaps on the opposite sides thereof, said flaps being adapted respectively to be folded in front and placed rearward of said member, a laterally projecting tongue on one flap, and a plurality of slits in the other flap in alignment with said tongue in either of which slits said tongue may be received relatively to the closed and easel-like positions of said flaps, thereby locking said flaps in either of the respective positions.
3. A mount for a photograph, picture, etc. consisting of a central member, flaps on the opposite sides thereof adapted respectively to be folded in front and placed rearward of said member, a laterally projecting tongue on one of said flaps. and a plurality of keepers for said tongue respectively on the opposite side portions of the other flap in alignment with said tongue, whereby said flaps may be interlocked respectively in either their front closed or rear easel-like positions on the central member in which they may be placed.
