DISPLAY DEVICE- Filed June -28 1922 W is Attorncgy.
Patented Mar. 18, 1924.
ADOLPH IDIETSOHE, JR., 033 NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO AMERICAN LITHOG-BAPHIC COMPANY, OF NEW YORK, N.'Y., A CORPORATION OFNEW YORK.
DISPLAY DEVICE.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPH DIETSCHE, Junior, a citizen of the United States and a resident of New York, borough of ueens, in the county of Queens and Stateof New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display Devices, of which the following is specification.
This invention relates to display devices and particularly to that class thereof which is formed of sheet material and adapted to display articles of merchandise resting thereon. The object of my improvements is to provide a device of the class specified, simple in construction and economical of manufacture, and which may be laid flat for purposes of shipment.
With these ends in view my improvements comprise features illustrated in their preferred embodiment in the drawing accompanying this specification, wherein 2- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved device in erected position. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the blank, cut and scored,
ready for folding and erection. The two views are to the same scale.
Referring now to the drawing, upstanding wall 2 is the principal member of the device and the face thereof may carry printed matter relating to the articles displayed. Said wall 2 is provided with opposite downwardly reaching legs 8, 4: having articulated to their inner edges 5, 6, respectively, rearwardly extending wings 7, 8. To the bottom edges 9, 10, of said wings, respectively, are articulated inwardly extending base portions 11, 12, The inreaching edges of said base portions are adapted to abut one another, thus maintaining said wings in rearwardly extended positions and the entire device in erected position.
When the device is in erected position, said base portions 11, 12 may receive resting thereon and within the opening between said edges 5, 6 of legs 3, 4, respectively, any article of merchandise which it is desired to display.
It will thus be seen that my improved device is adapted to be integrally cut from a single piece of suitable sheet material, such as card-board or the like, and tobe selfsustainingupon erection without fastening means other than that inherent in folding the device into display position.
I claim:
1. In a display device of sheet material .to the bottom edge of each of said wings.
3. In a-display device or" sheet material the combination of an upstanding wall having opposite downwardly reaching legs, a reari'vardly extending wing articulated to the inner edge of each of said legs, and an inwardly extending base portion articulated to the bottom edge ofeach of said wings, said base portions having their inreaching edges adapted to abut one another whereby said wings are maintained in rearwardly extending positions respectively.
4. In a display device of sheet material the combination of an upstanding wall having opposite downwardly reaching legs, a wing articulated to the inner edge of each of said legs, and a base portion articulated to the bottom edge of each of said wings, said base portions each having a width greater than the width or said wings respectively.
5. In a display device of sheet material the combination of an upstanding wall having opposite downwardly reaching legs, a rearwardly extending wing articulated to the inner edge of each of said legs, and an inwardly extending base portion articulated to the bottom edge of each of said wings, said base portions extending forwardly of said upstanding wall and having their inreaching edges adapted to abut oneanother whereby said wings are maintained in rear wardly extending positions respectively.
In witness whereof, I hereby signature this 26 day of June, 1922.
