DISPLAY DEVICE.
rai ers.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 1%, 1922.
Application filed September 21, 1920. Serial No. 411,758.
To all whom it may concern lie it known that I. r inoiirrr Dlnrsonn, Jr., a citizen of the Jnited States, and a residentof Nev: York, borough of Queens, in the county of Queens and '(hate of New York, have invented certain new and useful vlmprovements in Display Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to display devices and has for its object to provide a device of the class specified of simple construction, which can be laid fiat for shipment and which can be erected into display condition with little effort.
To these ends my im nrovements comprise features which are illustrated in their preferred embodiment in the drawing accom panying this specification, wherein Figure l is a perspective view of my improved display device erected. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the device with all members thereof laid out flat in condition for shipping or assembling. The scale of Fig. 2 is about two-thirds that of Fig. 1.
My improvements are illustrated as showiug one adaptation thereof, embodying a iiauitious container, such as a box for candy or the like. Said device preferably comprises top panel member 2, to the opposite ends at lines 2 and 2" of which are articulated opposite side panel members 3 and 4, respectively and to the front edge at lines 2" of which is articulated front panel member 5. For convenience all four of said members may be formed of one integral sheet of relatively stiff material such as cardboard and which sheet may be scored along said lines 2, 2' and 2 for folding.
Preferably. said. side members 3 and 4 are provided with downwardly extending feet 3 and P, respectively, Fi 1, and which feet may represent holders for the simulated box or container and are also adapted to rest on a counter or show case for supporting the device.
Said side members and front member are provided with means, respectively. for securing them together along their meeting edges; such means preferably include looking slots, as 6, in members 3 and and opposite ears, such as 'i, projecting from the ends of said member 5. Said slots, as (S, are preferably located in the foot portions, as 3 of member 3, and said ears, as 7, preferably project from downwardly extending tabs, as 8, of member 0, so that the interlocked portions of the device lie Within those parts thereof representing the support.
Also, there are preferably provided opposite end wings 9 and 10, extending from the ends, respectively, of member 5 and which wings are adapted for folding within the side members, respectively, when the device is erected, for strengthening the structure.
I claim:
1. A display device consisting of a sheet of relatively stiff material folded along one longitudinal and two transverse lines, Whereby a top member, opposite side members and a front member are formed, and means for interlocking said front and side members respectively when folded, said opposite side members having downwardly extending feet adapted for supporting the device in elevated position.
2. A display device consisting of a sheet of relatively stiff material folded along one longitudinal and two transverse lines, whereby a top member, opposite side members and a front member are formed, said side members having locking slots therethrough re spectively, said front member having opposite ears for engaging said locking slots respectively of said side members, and said opposite side members having downwardly extending feet adapted for supporting the device.
3. In a display devi e the combination of a top panel member. opposite side panel members articulated to opposite ends of said. top panel member, and a front panel member articulated to the front edge of said top panel member, said four members being adapted. when folded with the front edges of said side members meeting the opposite ends respectively of said front member, to represent a container, said side members having locking slots therethrough respectively, and said front member having opposite ears for engaging said locking slots respectively of said side members.
r. In a display device the combination of a top panel member, opposite side panel members articulated to opposite ends of said top panel member, and a front panel member articulated to the front edge of said top panel member, said four members being adapted, when folded with the front edges of said side members meeting the opposite ends respectively of said front member, to represent a container, said opposite side memends respectively of said front member, to hers having downwardly extending feet represent a container, said opposite side adapted for supporting the device, each of members having downwardly extending i'eet said side member feet having a locking slot adaptedfor supporting the device, each of therethrough, and said front memberhaving said side member feet having a locking slot opposite downwardly extending tabs each, ofmtherethrough, said front member having opwhich is provided with an ear for engaging posite downwardly extending tabs each of one of said locking slots respectively. which is provided with an ear for engaging In a display device the combination of 10116 of said locking. slots respectively, and
a top panel member, opposite side panel said front member having opposite end membersarticulated to opposite ends ofsaid wings adapted to be folded-within the side top panel member, and a front panel memmembers respectively. ber articulated to the -front edge of said top In witness whereof, I hereby affix my sigpanel member, said four 'members being nature this 20th day of September, 1920.
