NITED STATES Lamas ALBERT T. REID, F LEAVENWORTH, Kansas.
MANICURE KIT.
Application filed April 3,
To (LN whom vit may concern:
Be it known that I, .ALBERT T, REID, acitizen vof the United States, residing at Leavenworth, in the county of Leavenworth and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Manicure Kits, o1 which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a manicure kit.
An important obj ect of the inventionis to provide a kit of the above mentionedpchan acter, which is extremely compact, complete, and convenient to use.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character which is neat and attractivein appearance, and may be made suiiiciently small Vto be conveniently carried by the user.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
FigureV 1 is a side elevation of a manicure kit embodying my invention,
Figure 2 is an end elevation of the same,
Figure 3 is a central transverse section, parts in elevation.
Figure 1 is a perspective eral elements ot thefkit, separated.
Figure si? isa side elevation of a kit en1- bodying a second .torni ot my' invention, y
Figure 11b is a transverse section through the same,
Figure 5 is a perspective View of a modified form of tray,
Figure 6 is a perspective view of a third form of the invention,l and Figure 7 is a similar view oi' a' -fourth form of my invention.
Attention being called tirst to Figures 1 tol/1 inclusive, the .numeral 10 vdesignates a casing, which is preferably of an elongated elliptical form.. This casing has its top open and its lower end closed by a botto-m 11. The casing 10 is' provided with a longitudinal partition or wall 12, rigidly secured therein, and dividing the casinginto upper and lower compartments. The lower compartment is adapted to receive a longitudinally movable tray 13, slidable through anV opening' 111 in the end wall ot the casing 10..
This tray is :preferably mounted upon tracks 15, arranged within the lower compartment Y tion,v4 thereby' closing this open tcp.
Vbutter is preferably not quite as deep as the viewy of the sev- 1924. Serial No. 703,965.
adjacent to the' bottom 11. This permits ot the tray moving' freely and also provides a chamber `or space beneath the bottom of the tray, within which suitable implements, `such as' tiles, sticks or the .like may be stored.
LThis chamber is of course completely closed, lwhen thetray 13 is in the closed position.
by which the tray may be moved longitudiy nally.
The numeral 21y designates a manicure buffer, embodying a handle 22, carrying a back 23, to which is secured the butler element 24, which may be covered with chamois l or the like. The buli'er element is of a suitable shape and size to tit snugly within the l open top of the casing 10, above the parti- The bufer compartment, providing a space 25, for the reception oi. implements 27, such as files, vsticks or the like.
In Figure 5, I have shown a modified 'torni of tray, designated as a whole by the nu-Y meral 26, and this tray has compartments 27, 28, 29 and 30 for receiving the different cosmeticsor materials. The top ot this tray is preferably countersunk, 'tor the reception ofa -lid or cover 31, hinged. to the tray at 32. When this lid is inthe closed position,
is equipped vwith a lid 31, the partition 12 could be dispensed with, although the partition12 may be used, it desired. The cover 31 mayy have recesses 31, for receiving imn plements. f
In Figure a and l1", I have shown a modified form of the device, wherein the tray 13 is movable transversely with respect to the casing 10. This casing has the opening in its side instead of its end. The ends of the tray 13 are ofcourse straight so that the tray may slide, and the tray slides upon tracks 14 arranged within the casing 10. AJ knob 15 is secured to the side of the tray.
In Figure 6, I have shown a tray 34 which is substantially identical with the tray 13,
the samer receiving and holding the ldifterent cosmetics or materials. The knob 20 yis omitted. Hinged to the tray 34 at 35 isa casing 36, having a flanged lower end 37, adapted to fitover and receive the toprotl the tray 34. The casing 36 has a bottom 38, while its top is open, for the reception of the butler element 24 of the buffer. A lug 39 is formed upon the casing 34 to Vspring within a socket 40 on the ila-nge 37.
In Figure 7, I have shown a tray 41, substantially identical with the tray 13,' and recei ying the several cosmetics or materials. This tray 41 is arranged beneath a casing 42,;having a flanged bottom` 43, for litting over and receiving the top of the tray 41. The tray 41 has a lug 44, adapted to enter a socket 45,l formed upon the flange 43. The tray 42 has' a bottom 46, and the top ofthe tray is open for the reception of the buffer element 24 of the buffer. It is obvious that the form of the device shown in Figure 7 is similar to that shown in Figure 6, excepting that the tray and casing arefentirely separable.
In the use or the irst form of the de- Y vice, it will be seen that the severalparts of the same are'securely held together and such parts may be readily and conveniently plain the operation of the other forms of the.
device, which are very similar.
It is to be'funderstoodthat the toi-ins, ot my invention herewith shown and described, are rto be taken as preferred examples ofthe same, and that various changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts, may be .resorted to, without departing from the spirit ot" my invention, or the scope ot' the subjoined claims.
Havingv thus described my invention, what I clannis:
1. A manicure kit comprising a casing.
having its top open, abutfer embodyinga butler element for insertion within the open rtop ot the easing and to be liel'df therein,
and a tray detachably connected with the casing beneath the Vbutter' element.v
2. A v n'ranicure kit comprising, a casing having its top open, a bulferembodying a buffer element for insertion within the open top of the casing and to be held therein5 a tray separate from the butter end arranged below the buffer for holding cosmetics or like material, and means connecting the tray with the casing whereby the casing normally covers the upper open end of the tray and vto permit ot access to the upper open end of the tray upon the relative movement between the casing and tray.
3. A manic-ure kit comprising a casing having its top open, a buffer including a buifer element for insertion within the open top of the casing, and a tray slidable within the, casing beneath the buffer. y
4. A manicureA kitcomprising a casing having itstop open and provided at one 'end Awithran opening leading into its lower portion, a buffer includinga buffer element o1jinse1-tion within the open top of the casing, and aI tray mounted tio slide longitudinally within the casing through said opening, said tray having means for holding cosmetics or like materials.
5. A manicure kit comprising a casing Y having its top open and provided in its lower portion with an opening, guide means mounted within such blower port-ion, a tray slidable ,upon thel .gu-ide* means and movable through said opening and supported-'by the guide means in spaced relation from the .bottom of the casingfor forming a-compartment` for receivingv and holding `manicure implements or the like, saidA tray having means for holding cosmetics or the like, and a buffer having abuffer elementl for insertion within the openJ top ofthe-casing.
6. A manicure kit comprising a caslng having a portion thereof formed open, a buffer mcludlng a buffer eleanent'for 1nsertion within 'such open portion, Yand a tray slid-able within the casing and being adapted for holding material tor treat-ing the nails.V y Y 7. A manicure kit comprising, 'a casing having a portion. thereof formed open, a
buffer including a 'buit'erelement for insern tion within such open portion, and a tray separate from rthe butter and'engaging the casing and adaptedto be shiftedjto an open position with the relation Y,tothe casing. Y
In testimony whereof` I allix my signature.
