(Cl. 132-79) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A beauticians portable instrument kit comprising a dual-shell type casing, wall portions of which are formed of magnetic or para-magnetic material to provide at surfaces against which beauticians instruments of widely varying shapes and sizes and/ or para-magnetic characteristics may be applied in preferred positional relationships. A plurality of flexible para-magnetic strap devices are provided in combination therewith, whereby said straps may be manually molded to the instruments individually and magnetically adhered at their opposite ends to casing wall portions; thereby detachably retaining the instruments in preferred orderly arrangements in the casing while being readily available and withdrawable for use.

This invention relates to beauticians instrument kits or cases, and more particularly to an improved, readily portable carrying case adapted to accommodate in improved manner therein a plurality of beauticians instruments or the like.

On-the-job experience has demonstrated that to best enable a beautician to give unhampered and commendable service to customers, commensurate with their expectations and requirements, the operators instruments should be adequately but properly disposed at all times in an instrument storing and pocket-size carrying case, having novel ways and means enabling the operator to speed up his activities and, at the same time, do a better customer-serving job.

Varying hair handling situations involve discriminating selective use of various instruments, which dictates that the instruments must be kept readily available and in an order thereby enabling the operator to function in an almost effortless manner. To accomplish this desirable result, the present invention provides means whereby the operator is enabled to keep each instrument in a definite place and may easily position it therein so that it can be selected and, after use, returned to its intended place, thus saving valuable time and minimizing the likelihood of confusing and perplexing delays.

Specifically, one of the objects of the present invention is to provide an improved carrying case or kit as aforesaid comprising a zippered dual shell type container having improved means therein for mounting in prearranged positions all types of beauticians tools.

Another object is to provide an improved kit as aforesaid which is adapted to accommodate and maintain in prearranged relative positions therein, bealuticians tools of metallic and non-metallic types with equal facility.

Another object is to provide an improved kit as aforesaid Iwhich is adapted to receive and maintain in properly positioned relation therein a large variety of beauticians instruments, while being readily available for Withdrawal and use with improved facility.

Still another object is to provide an improved device as aforesaid which is adapted to accommodate with improved facility instruments of a large variety of shapes and sizes.

Other objects and advantages will appear from the specification hereinafter and the accompanying drawing wherein:

As shown in the drawing herewith, the kit device of the present' invention may be constructed to comprise a flat-opening dual-shell type container formed of leather, plastic, or-any other suitable pliable material; comprising generally first and

10, 12 interconnected by a hinge ap portion 14 and a common foldable backing member 16. A zipper device as indicated at 18 is provided for locking together the marginal edges of the shell portions 10-12 ywhen the device -is folded into closedbook form. A flexible flap as indicated generally at 20 is also preferably provided and fixed at one end as indicated at 22 to one of the shell portions so as to be foldable outwardly of the kit structure when the latter is opened as shown in FIGS. 1, 3; the ap device 20 being dimensioned so as to be easily foldable back inside the kit prior to closing and zippering it up.

The novel feature of the present invention resides in the provision, in association with the bottom panel portions of the

10, 12, and with the ap portion 20, of novel instrument holding means. For example, as shown in the drawing herewith, the bottom of the shell section 10 is |lined with a magnetized plate 24, whereby instruments made of para-magnetic materials such as clippers 25, scissors 26, and nail cutters 27 (FIGS. 1, 2) or the like, may be temporarily fixed in desired positional relationships by simply placing them flatwise on the baseplate 24 at the desired positions. To hold instruments or the like which are not magnetic-attracted in desired relative positions, a plurality of exible paramagnetic straps as indicated at 30 are provided; whereby non-metallic articles (such as plastic handled razors, hair brushes, and the like as shown in FIG. l) may be laid in the desired positions and then held thereat by means of the straps 30 which magnetically adhere to the baseplate 24.

As shown in FIG. 1 at 34, the baseplate or lining device for either one or both of the shell portions 'may be of ordinary sheet metal or metallized plastic or metallized ceramic or of any material of the para-magnetic type, and the holding straps for maintaining the instruments in proper positional relationships may be furnished of magnetized strap'form as indicated at 36. The straps 36 may be of any suitably pliable magnetized material, such as soft metal, magnetic plastic, ceramic, or the like. Thus, whether the instruments are constructed of magnetic or non-magnetic materials, they may be temporarily positioned and maintained in the desired positional relationship as shown for example in FIG. 1, with utmost ease and facility.

Whereas the ap member 20 is illustrated to be of flexible sheet form, it may be alternatively of rigid flat sheet form and hinged-ly connected in any suitable manner to the body of the kit; but in any case the ap member 20 will be formed either of magnetized or para-magnetic sheet material or the like. Alternatively, it may be basically constructed of any other preferred material and lined with a suitable magnetized or para-magnetic sheet material. Thus, it will be appreciated that in addition to the bottom surfaces of the

10, 12, of the device, the flexible ap device is also adapted to accomrnodae in temporarily attached positions thereon, a large variety of tools. If the flap or ap liner -is of magnetized material the hold-down straps 38 would need be fabricated only of exible para-magnetic sheet material. On the other hand, if the flap is of magnetized material, then the strap devices 38 need not be magnetized but simply fabricated of para-magnetic material. In any case paramagnetic instruments such as the nail le 42 and tweezers 44 as shown in FIGS. l, 3, will readily be held in place simply by reason of the magnetic attraction between the baseplate and the instruments per se, While nommagnetically-attractive `instruments 'will be held in place by the strap devices.

Thus, it will be appreciated that by virtue of the present invention a large variety of differently shaped and sized instruments may be readily accommodated in any desired positional relationship, not limited by reason of any prearranged relative positioning of permanently fixed holding straps or the like, as in the case of the prior art. As indicated above, the holding straps in the case of the present invention are preferably fabricated of llexible material (whether magnetized or not) so as to adapt each strap to snugly dit about any instrument regardless of shape and size, and to rrnly hold it 'in temporarily mounted position as desired.

It will of course be appreciated that whereas only one specific shape of kit and only a limited number of details of construction have been illustrated and described herein, various changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the accompanying claims.

I claim:

1. A beauticians instrurnent kit comprising in combination; a portable tool storing and protecting case protectively enclosing and retaining a plurality of magnetic and non-magnetic beauticians instruments of -widely various shapes and sizes, said case comprising a dual-shell type casing, each shell portion thereof including a bottom wall provided marginally with upstanding interconnected front, back and end walls and defining a receptacle por tion, the interior surfaces of said bottom walls being formed of magnetic or para-magnetic material, a foldable flap attached to one of said back walls and located in the receptacle portion and having a surface portion formed of magnetic or para-magnetic material, and a plurality of flexible straps formed of para-magnetic material manlually Imolded to said non-magnetic instruments individuallly :and disposed against said bottom walls and mag- -netically adhering at their opposite ends to said bottom Wall surfaces, said straps being readily deformable to adopt them to embrace other non-magnetic instruments of various shapes and sizes and to detachably retain them in orderly positions while being available to the beautician.

2. A beauticians instrument ykit comprising in combination; a portable case protectively enclosing and retaining a plurality of magnetic and non-magnetic beauticians instruments of Widely various shapes and sizes, said case including a bottom wall portion, the interior surface of which is fonmed of magnetic or para-magnetic lmaterial, and a plurality of flexible straps formed of magnetic or para-magnetic material manually molded to the shapes of said non-magnetic instruments individually and disposed against said Ibottom wall portion and magnetically adhering at their opposite ends to said bottom Wall surface, said straps being readily deformable to adopt them to embrace other non-magnetic instruments of various shapes and sizes and to detachably retain them in orderly positions.
