Description

'UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE;
CHRISTIAN ROGGE, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
lMPROVEMENT iN TOYS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 150,792, dated May 1'2, 1874; application filed v March 24, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHRISTIAN Boeren, of the city of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented certain Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification and I do hereby declare that in the same is contained a full, clear, and exact description of my said invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
My `invention relates to certain improvements in the invention set forth in Letters Patent No. 130,690, granted August 20, 1872, to E. C. Barton, for improvement in call-bells. That invention consists of a stand supporting two open-mouthed or gong-shaped bells, provided with a elapper and mounted on an axis or shaft, the bells being, if desired, of different tones, producing chimes very pleasing to theear. My improvements consist in attaching to the gong, the axis of which is mounted on wheels, shafts, rolling toy horses, driver, and seat, all being arranged substantially as hereinafter specified and shown.`
In the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, an elevation of the improved toy is shown.
I make no further allusions to the character of the gong A than to state that itis substantially the same as that set forth in the said Letters Patent No. 130,690, having its stand removed, and its axis mounted on wheels B.
The shafts ai are hooked over the axis, as shown, permitting the free revolution of the wheels and gong, which are all rigidly secured to the axis, whi le the shafts remain in the horizontal position. The toy horses C C are secured in an appropriate manner between the shafts a in some suitable manner, and is prol vided with a foot-board, e. A cord or other means for drawing the toy is attached to the front of the shafts, and as the toy is dragged along, the chimes are produced.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
In combination with gong A and chiming devices mounted rigidly on wheels B, the shafts, toy horses, front running wheel or wheels, driver, seat, and foot-board, all substantially as herein specified.
^ In testimony whereof I have hereto subscribed my name this 20th day of March, in the year of our Lord 1874.
CHRISTIAN ROGGE. Witnesses:
WM. T. HOWARD, JNO. S. MAnnox.
