ENVELOPE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ADoLrH DIETSCHE, a citizen of the United States, and resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Envelopes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improvement in envelopes, having particular reference to a multiple pocket envelope.

This invention has for an object to pro vide an inexpensive and easily constructed envelope presenting a plurality of pockets arranged to facilitate withdrawal of the articles therefrom.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claimsin which the'various novel features of the invention are more particularly set'forth.

Fig. 5 is a transverse vertical section taken on the plane indicated by the line 55 on Fig. 3, but omitting the left hand pocket forming elements.

In constructing my improved envelope I form a blank such as shown in Fig. 1 and comprising a main central portion A at the side of which are semicircular pocket forming elements B. The body A has a flap extension 10 at its top. The body A is adapted to be folded along the horizontal dotted line a to produce the front 11 and back 12 of the envelope, the flap 10 being edge folded along the horizontal dottedline Z2."

The fold line a is located approximately midway between upper and lower ends of the blank body A, the back portion 12 which carries the flap 10 being, however, preferably slightly longer than the front portion 11 for convenience in folding the flap to close the envelope.

To form the pockets of the envelope the semi-circular. side members B are each folded as a whole along the sides,'indicated by the dotted lines 0, of the body A and are also folded along the lines cl radiating from the ends of the fold line a of the body A to produce a plurality of pleat-like members 14 which fold in between the front 11 and back 12 as shown, these members 14 being of substantially triangular shape, with the bases of the triangles formed by the sides of the envelo-pe,,th'e parts being preferably so proportioned that the inner pointed ends of the members on opposite sides of the envelope overlap each other. As is clearly shown in F igs. 2 and 3, these pleat-like mem-- bers 14 divide the envelope into aseries of pockets, while it will also be apparent that these pockets may be readily opened out for inspection or withdrawal'of the contents by swinging the front member 11 outwardly from the back member 12. To fasten the envelope in closed position the flap 10 has a tab 15 formed thereon which I may be inserted into a slot 16 in the front 11, although other fastening means may be provided if desired. It will, be noted also that the construction of the members B issuch that when folded, the top edges of the pockets incline inwardly and downwardly from opposite sides of the envelope, facilitating the pocket.

The envelope may be used for any desired purpose being particularly suitable as a carrier for. hair nets, when sold in lots.
