Description
indicated in Figure 2. F represents a thumb-piece to facilitate the rotation of the collar F.
G, denotes a lug or stud secured to the handle to maintain the rotatable collar upon the handle in convenient position to receive the end of the fitting. The handle at its upper end is preferably given an arc-shape formation as at li that it may be conveniently gripped by the hand of the operator.
Having indicated the several parts by reference letters the construction and op eration of the device will be readily understood.
The yoke-shaped clip B is first adjusted upon the spreading arm of the handle and secured by engaging its hook in one of the apertures therein that it may be adapted for the thickness of the mop, the chain is then extended through the mop and the fitting E attached to its free end is thensecured to the opposite spreading arm of the handle upon engaging the hooks E through the slots provided in the arm. The end of the fitting E is then forced adjacent to the handle and'the clamping collar F rotated so as to overlap and engage the end of the fitting ;the mop being thus securely held in place. To release the mop from the end of the stick the collar F is rotated so as to free the fitting E, when the mop may be removed as Will be readily understood.
Having thus described my invention What I claim is:
1. In a device of the character described, a tubular handle longitudinally divided at one end, said divided portions being bent in opposite directions at an angle to the handle with their ends bent laterally toward each other at right angles to the handle; means securing said ends together; a chain for clamping a mop against the laterally extending divided portions of the handle; means for adjustably securing one end of the chain to one of the divided portions of the handle; a fitting secured to the other end of the chain adapted to overlap the other divided angularly extending portion of the handle, and means for engaging the fitting to the handle, whereby the mop may be secured to the laterally extending rightangle portions of the divided handle.
2. In a device of the character described; a tubular handle longitudinally divided at one end, said divided portions being bent in opposite directions at an angle to the handle their ends being bent laterally toward each other at right-angles to the handle; means securing said ends together; a chain for clamping a mop against the laterally extended divided portions of the handle; an adjustable clip secured to one end of the chain provided with a hook adapted to enter a plurality of apertures provided in one of the divided portions of the handle; a fitting secured to the other end of the chain having hooks adapted to enter slots provided in the other divided portion of the handle, and means sleeved upon the handle adapted to engage the fitting, whereby the. mop may be secured to the laterally extended right-angle portions of the divided handle.
3. In a device of the character described, a tubular handle, longitudinallydivided at one end, said divided portions being bent in opposite directions at an. angle to the ban dle, their ends being bent laterally toward each other at right-angles to the handle, said right-angle portions forming a channel. in cross-section; means securing said channel-shaped ends together; a chain for clamping a mop against the laterally eX- tended channel portions of the handle; an adjustable clip secured to one end of the chain, provided with. a hook adapted to enter a plurality of apertures provided in one of the divided portions 01": the handle; a fitting secured to the other end of the chain having hooks adapted to enter slots provided in the other divided portion of the handle and a rotatable collar sleeved upon the handle having a portion adapted to overlap the end of the fitting, said overlapping portion ot the collar having a rib adapted to enter a groove formed in the end of the fitting.
l. In a device of the character described, a tubular handle, longitudinally divided at one end, said divided portions being bent in opposite directions at an angle to the handle, their ends being bent laterally toward each other at right-angles to the handle. said right-angle portions forming a channel in cross-section; means securing said channelshaped ends together; a chain for clamping a mop against the laterally extended channel portions of the handle; an adjustable clip secured to one end of the chain provided with a hook adapted to enter a plurality of apertures provided in one of the divided portions of the handle; a fitting se cured to the other end of the chain having hooks adapted to enter slots provided in the other divided portion of the handle; a rotatable collar sleeved upon the handle having a portionoverlapping the end of the fitting provided with a rib adapted to enter a groove formed in the end of the fitting, and a lug projecting from the handle adapted to maintain said collar in position to engage the end of the fitting.
In a device of the character described, tubular handle, longitudinally divided at one end, said divided portions being bent in opposite directions at an angle to the handle, their ends being bent laterally toward each other at right-angles to the handle, said right-angle portions forming a channel in cross-section; means securing said channelshaped ends together; a chain for clamping a mop against the laterally extended channel portion of the handle; an adjustable clip secured to one end of the chain, provided With a hook adapted to enter a plurality of apertures provided in one of the divided portions of the handle; a fitting secured to the other end of the chain having hooks adapted to enter slots provided in the other divided portion of the handle and a rotatable collar sleeved, upon the handle having a portion adapted to overlap the end of the fitting provided with. a rib adapted to enter a groove formed in the end of the fitting, said collar also provided with a projecting thumb-piece to facilitate its rotation upon the handle.
6. In a device of the character described, a tubular handle longitudinally divided at one end, said divided portions being bent in opposite directions at an angle to the handle with their ends extending laterally toward each other at right-angles to the handle, the
opposite end of said tubular handle having its edge bent inwardly to'provide an arc shaped end for convenience in handling; means securing the divided ends of said handle together; a chain for clamping a mop against the laterally extending divided portions of the handle; means for adj ustably securing one end of the chain to one of the divided portions of the handle; a fitting secured to the other end of the chain adapted to overlap the other divided angularly extending portion of the handle, and means for engaging the fitting to the handle, whereby the mop may be secured to the laterally extending right-angle portion of the divided handle.
In testimony wherof, I sign this specification in the presence of two Witnesses.
