Be it known that I, JOHN LANGENBAOH, a citizen of the United States, residing at C'ncinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Safety-Razor- Blade Holders for Honing and Stropping, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates'to razor blade holders and more particularly to means for holding safety razor blades during the operation of stropping and honing.

The object of my invention is to provide a simple, efficient and economical holder having a ready and convenient means for detachably' securing a safety razor blade therein in such a manner as to avoid injury thereto and to provide for convenient and easy insertion and removal of the blade.

My invention consists in the provision of a holder for safety razor blades comprising a blade holding member formed from a single piece of spring metal folded longitudinally upon itself to form two metal leaves and bent in such a manner as to hold a blade securely when honing or stropping.

My invention also consists in the parts and in the combination and arrangement of parts as herein set forth and claimed.

In the embodiment of my invention as illustrated and which shows a preferred construction, I provide a blank 1 of spring sheet metal of substantially the form shown in Serial No. 560,050.

Fig. 6, folded longitudinally upon itself to form leaves 2 and 3 and bent around a flattened stem 4: and suitably secured thereto. Leaf 2 is provided at its'outer end with a notch 5, and leaf 3 is provided with an inturned lip 6 extending across the end of the space 7 between the leaves and engag ing said notch to form holding means for the outer end of the razor blade. Leaf 3 is preferably made somewhat longer than leaf 2 and is provided at its inner end with an inturned lip 8 adapted to engage notch 9 on the inner end of razor blade 10. The outer end of razor blade 10 is provided with notch 11 to receive and engage lip 6 so that when the blade is in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 3. said. lips will engage notches 9 and 11 and securely hold the blade therein. Stem 4 is provided with a shank 12 secured in the end of handle 13, the inner end of which is preferably provided with ferrule 14.

The razor blade is preferably inserted longitudinally at the inner end of the holder until notch 11 engages lip 6 whereupon notch 9 will engage lip 8 and firmly hold the blade therein. To remove the blade simply press the inner end of the blade away from the longer leaf 3 and pull outwardly from the holder whereby the blade is readily detached therefrom.

My novel holder forms a ready means for holding razor blades while stropping the same and also provides means for securing better results in stropping due to the yield able manner in which the blade is held.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A blade holder comprising a clip bent upon itself to form parallel resilient blade holding members having an enlarged bite portion at the bend the bite portion being longer than the blade holding members, a stem inserted in the bite portion and having a shank extending beyond one end of the holder, both said bite portion extension and said shank being inserted in the end of a handle.
