COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTION AND REMOVAL OF JLNCRUSTATION IN INTERNAL- COMBUSTTON ENGINES.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that HERMAN L. FINNEGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sioux Falls, in the county of Minnehaha a and State of South Dakota, has invented certain new and usefullmprovements in a Composition for Prevention and Removal of Tncrustation in Internal-Combustion Engines, of whichthe following 1s a specification.
' This invention relates to certain improve vide, a novel and improved composition of thisgeneral character wherein the combustion chamber is effectively lubricated to prevent adherence thereto of carbon.
My improved composition comprises:
Light cylinder oil 2 gallons, Benzol 1 gallon. Ether"-.. 1 pound, and Naphthalene. 1 pound.
The light cylinder oil serves as an aid in; lubrication while the naphthalene enables the oil to resist the heat within the combustion chamber and alsoas an agent Application filed June 24, 1922. Serial no. 57: ,744.
for the dissolving of carbon. The naphthalene also raises the gravity of the gas as does also the ether and benzol. The benzol acts as an agent to dissolve the naphthalene and also to further accomplish the desired dissolving of the carbon.
My improved composition is mixed with the fuel and at approximately one quart of the composition to three hundred twenty gallons of. fuel and the fuel having my improved composition mixed therewith results in an effective lubrication of the upper cylinders so that carbon cannot adhere to the walls thereof with the result that the carbon is expelled every time the exhaust opens. This applies with the same advantage to the spark plugs, valves, or cylinder rings, thereby keeping the valve seats absolutely free of carbon whereb it is assured that the valves will seat tig itly thereby holding compression. My improved composition also assures material saving in gas together with a quick pick up in the motor.
I claim:
A composition for the removal and prevention of crustation in internal combustion engines comprisingan admixture of light cylinder oil. 2 gallons, benzol, 1 gallon, 00 ether, 1- pound, and naphthalene, 1 pound.
