Abstract

A composition for decarbonizing internalcombustion engines consists of cyclohexanone and/or methyl cyclohexanone with or without some cyclohexanol, mixed with a suitable liquid vehicle of higher b.p., e.g. the lubricating oil. The composition may be added to the fuel or introduced directly to the cylinders. Suitable proportions are 1 vol. of upper cylinder lubricant with 3 vol. of cyclohexanone, 1 pint of the composition being added to 10 gallons of petrol; and 2 vol. of lubricant with 1 vol. of cyclohexanone, 1 oz. being added to 2 gallons of petrol. Specification 416,713 is referred to.
