Application led November To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, HERBERT S. KING, citizen of the United States, residing at Manchester Depot, in the county of Bennington and State of Vermont, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Seesaws, of which the following is a specilication.

This invention relates to an improved see saw and seeks, as one o'l' its principal objects, `to provide a device of this character embodying a segmental rocker element having its ends connected by a cross board forming seats adjacent the ends of said element.

The invention has as a 'further object to provide a device wherein the companion rockers of the rocker element will be connected by cross bars and wherein the cross hars at the ends o1 the rockers will provide hand holds adjacent the side edges of the cross board.

And the invention has as a still further object to provide a device which will be eX- ceedingly simple in construction and may accordingly be produced at moderate cost.

Other and incidental objects will appear hereinafter.

In carrying the invention into effect, I employ a segmental rocker element including companion semi-circular rockers 10 arranged in spaced parallel relation and connecting the rockers is a plurality of parallel equally spaced cross bars 11 extending between the upper edges of the rockers. Connecting the rockers at their ends are end bars 12 overlying the ends of the rockers and, if desired, these end bars may be braced by angle plates 153. Bolted or otherwise secured to the end bars 12 is a cross board 14C connecting the ends of the rocker element. The cross board projects beyond the end bars 12 so that the end portions of the board provide seats 15 and, as -will be observed, the board is of less width than the rocker element and is arranged medially of the end 3, 1922. bars 12 to define hand holds 16 between the side edges of the board and the rockers 10 at the end portions of said end bars. In the present instance, I have shown the device as constructed of wood. However, as will be understood, the device may, of course, be constructed of metal or other approved material.

In use, a child may sit upon one of the seats 15 and another child upon the other of said seats when, by rocking their bodies backwardly and forwardly the device may be set in motion. To assist in this operation, the hand holds 16 of the end bars 12 o1 the rocker element may be grasped when, by pulling upon said end bars in rhythm with the rocking motion of the rocker element, the momentum of said element may be readily increased. Furthermore, the hand holds 16 will provide a conventional means whereby either child may maintain a proper balance upon the seats of the cross board.

Also,- it is to be noted that the cross bars 11 of the device will provide a ladder whereby small children may climb onto the cross board while children upon the seats 15 of the device may readily rest their feet upon the uppermost of said bars. I accordingly1 provide a particularly simple and safe see saw which will prove attractive in practical use.

Having thus described the invention, what 'is claimed as new is:

In a see saw, the combination of companion segmental rockers arranged in spaced parallel relation, horizontal end bars secured to the ends of the rockers connecting the rockers with each other, a cross board lying on top o1 said end bars midway between the rockers and projecting beyond said end bars to define terminal seats, the cross board being or' a width less than the length ot' said end bars respectively to detine hand holds at the end portions of the bars between the side edges of the board and the ends ot' the rockers, and means securing the cross board to said end bars.
