G. HARZINSKI SHADE AND CURTAIN BRACKET Filed Feb. 26 1923 g7 f /6 f Gage fiarzz'n J/fzi INVENTOR WITNESS:
ATTORNEY Patented Apr. 15, 1924.
UNITED STATES 1,4e0,s2i
GEORGE HARZINSKI, OF CUBWENSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA.
SHADE AND 'GURTAIN BRACKET.
Application filed February 26, 1923.
1 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE HARZINSKI,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Curwcnsville in the county of Clearfield and State 0" Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shade and Curtain. Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to household fixtures and has for its object the provision of a combined shade and curtain bracket which is fully adjustable for use upon windows of different widths and which has the great advantage of being secured in place simply and without any difliculty whatever as to ascertaining the proper points at which the elements should be applied.
An important and more specific object is the provision of a device of this character which will be constructed entirely of sheet metal, the base or body of the device being provided with guide means within which the adjustable elements are slidably mounted.
An additional object is the provision of a device of this character which will be simple and inexpensive in manufacture, highly eflicient in use, durable in service and a general improvement in the art.
lVith the above and other objects and advantages in view the invention consists in the details of construction to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device,
Figure 2 is a plan view thereof applied,
Figure 3 is an end view,
Figure 1 is a cross section.
Referring more particularly to the drawings I have shown the body portion of my device as consisting of an elongated sheet 10 of suitable metal which may be painted, enameled, nickel plated, lacquered or otherwise treated to have a pleasing appearance.
The edges of this sheet are formed with over-hanging flanges 11 and 12 for a purpose to be described. Secured upon the front of the sheet or body and extending longitudinally thereof at its center is a strip 13 which has its edges offset withrespect to the sheet 10 whereby to define flanges 14 and 15 cooperating respectively with the flanges 11 and 12.
Serial No. 621,406.
Slidable upon the sheet, 10 between the flanges 11 and 14 are superposed strips 16 which are similar and which may be described as telescopically adjustable. The outer ends of these strips are formed with lateral forward extensions 17 notched at 18 for holding a curtain rod 19.
Slidable upon the lower portion of the sheet 10 between the flanges 12 and 15 are superposed strips 20 which are likewise telescopically adjustable and which have their outer ends carrying shade roller brackets 21 which may be formed integrally thereon or which may be secured thereto and which are for the purpose of holding a conventional shade roller 22.
In the use of the device it is fastened at the top of a window by means of suitable nails, screws or the like which are passed through suitable holes 23 in the body 10, preferably at the center of the strip 13. The strips 16 are pulled or pushed as the case maybe to bring the extensions 17 thereof the proper distance apart to suit the window and to suit the proper length of curtain rod or pole. The strips 20 are likewise pushed together or pulled apart to adjust the distance between the brackets 21 so that a shade roller of proper length may be held.
From the foregoing description and a study of the drawings it will be apparent that I have thus provided a simply constructed and consequently inexpensive combined curtain pole and shade roller bracket in which the whole device may be fastened in place with the utmost ease the parts being furthermore readily adjustable for use upon windows of different sizes and for holding curtain poles or shade rollers of different lengths.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention it is of course to be understood that I reserve the right to make such changes in the form, construction and arrangement of parts as will not depart from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention I claim:
A combined curtain pole and shade roller supporting bracket structure comprising an elongated body sheet having its opposite longitudinal edges rolled inwardly to de fine flanges, a strip secured upon the sheet longitudinally thereof at its center and havnotches for holding a curtain rod, and a ing its longitudinal edges offset to define pair of strips slidably mounted Within the flanges co-operating with said first named channel between the other two flanges and 10 flanges, 21 pair of strips slidably engaged having their outer ends carrying shade 5 within the channel between two of said roller supporting. brackets.
flanges and having their outer ends termi- In testimony whereof I afiix my signature. nating in forward extensions provided with GEORGE HARZINSKI.
