To all whom it may concern Be it known that T, ALBERT T. REID, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York. in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Toilet Cases, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to improvements in toilet cases, adapted for holding powder, rouge, or the like.

An important object of the invention is to provide a case of the above mentioned character, which is light, strong, durable, and compact in construction, whereby it is thin and may be carried in a hand bag or the like, with. convenience.

A further object of the invention is to provide a reflector element or mirror, mounted between the casing sections, carrying the rouge or powder, and having means whereby the mirror may be adjusted for use with either casing section, or for use with both casing sections at the same time.

A further object of the invention is to provide a case of the above mentioned character, which is easy and convenient to 0p crate.

A further object of the invention is to provide an economical refill for either casing section.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numerals 1 and 2 designate casing sections, which are preferably cylindrical, having their inner sides open and their outer sides closed, as shown. These casing sections are preferably reinforced and sti'li'ened by annular ribs or flanges 52. The casing sections are preferably formed of metal. although any other suitable material may be employed.

The numeral 3 designates a hinge, as a whole, embodying leaves 4.- and 5, which are secured, respectively, to the casing sections 1 and 2, by solder or any other suitable means. The leaves l and 5 carry spaced knuckles 6 and 7 respectively, which interm by means of a rod 8. This rod is preferably formed of resilient material and is extended at its ends beyond the knuckles 7, and bent into lateral spring arms 9, which engage within the sides of the casing sections 1 and 2 and are so tensioned that they automatically swing the casing sections 1 and 2, to the open position, when these casing sections are released. i

The inner knuckles 6 are spaced, for the reception of a sleeve 10. having a headed stud 11 formed integral therewith. This sleeve 10 pivotally receives the rod 8.

The numeral 12 designates a preferably cylindrical locking band, preferably formed of metal, although any other suitable material may be employed. This band is of slightly smaller diameter than the casing sections 1 and 2, so that the casing sections may engage upon the opposite ends thereof, 95 as shown. The locking band 12 is preferably provided with a reinforcing or stiffening rib 13, stamped outwardly therein, at its center. The rib or flange 13 serves as a stop for the edges of the casing sections 1 and 2, and also 100 stiilens the locking band and associatedelements.

As more clearly shown in Figure 7, the rib or flange 13 terminates at points 14, the side wall of the locking hand 12 being iiatte ed between these points, whereby the points 11' will clear the knuckles T, when the locking band 12 is turned upon its pivot, as will he described. As shown in n'igure 2, the locking band 12 extends in the sat'ne direction of the casing sections 1 an i 2, wherehv the casing sections may be swung inwardly upon this locking hand.

The numeral 16 designates a reflecting element or mirror, of anv well known or preferred type, preferably in the torin of a loot:- ing glass. 6. A toilet case comprising, a pair of casing sections, hinge means connecting said casing sections, a locking band arranged between the casing sections and having a swi eled connection therewith, and a reflector carried by the locking band.

7. A toilet case comprising, a pair of cas ing sections, a hinge embodying leaves secured to the casing sections and having knuckles, a pivot element extending through the knuckles, a sleeve carried by the pivot element and having a pivot member, a locking band mounted between the casing sections and having an opening to receive the pivot member, and a reflector adjustably mounted within the locking band.

8. A toilet case comprising, a pair of casing sections, a hinge embodying leaves secured to the casing sections and having knuckles, a pivot element extending through the knuckles, a sleeve mounted upon the pivot element between the knuckles and carrying a headed stud, a locking band arranged between the casing sections and having an opening pivotally receiving the shank of the headed stud, and a reflector pivotally supported within the locking band.

9. A toilet case comprising, a pair of connected casing sections, a support carried by the casing sections, and a reflecting element pivotally carried by the support so that it may be used with either casing section.

10. A toilet case comprising, a pair of coacting casing sections, a support connected with one casing section, and a reflecting element pivotally carried by the support so that it may be used with either casing section.

11. In a toilet case, a pair of coacting casing sections, a hinge connecting the same, a stud pivotally secured to the hinge, a support swiveled upon the stud, and a reflecting element carried by the support.

12. A toilet case comprising a pair of casing sections pivoted together for relative swingingmovement, a reflecting element provided with a single reflecting face, and means connecting the reflecting element with one casing section in a manner to permit of the said reflecting face of the element being arranged remote from either casing section and in an upper position with respect to the other casing section, said reflecting element being enclosed by the casing sections when they are closed.

13. A toilet case comprising, a pair of connected casing sections adapted to have relative opening movement, a reflecting element adapted to be enclosed by the casing sections when they are in the closed position, and means whereby the reflecting element may be supported in either casing section with the same face thereof in the outer position with respect to such casing section, when the casing section is in the open position.
