Patented Apr. 27, 1926.
UNITED STATES w CLARENCE E. JONES, OF ST; PAUL, MINNESOTA.
FIRST-AID KIT.
Application filed June 4, 1923. Serial No. 643,371.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that CLARENCE E. JoNns, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, has invented new and useful Improvements in First-Aid Kits, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to provide a container particularly adapted to hold bottles, cotton batting, cheese cloth andother articles necessary to render first aid and to hold them in compact and yet convenient form.
, Vith this object in view the invention consists in a construction and combination of parts of which a preferred embodiment is shown in the accompanying drawings, where in Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view showing the container in open position.
Figure 3 is a section on the line 33 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a section on the line 44t of Figure 2.
The invention comprises a receptacle or container of preferably rectangular form di- 'vided longitudinally on a diagonal line to form the complemental triangular sections 1 and of which the former is the container proper and the latter the cover which is hinged at its lower edge or at the apex of the triangle to the lower edge or base of the triangle of the section 1, the section 1 at the top is provided with a latch member 3 on gageable by a spring catch 4 carried by the section 2. The device is designed for selective attachn'ient with a wall or with a con-. venient si'ipporting surface in a motor vehicle and to this end the section 1 on the back and adjacent the upper and lower ends is provided with the snap sockets 5 adapted for engagement with globular heads 6 of screws 7 which are attached in the wall 8 or at convenient points in a motor vehicle.
' As a means for securely holding bottles and the like an elastic strap 9 is provided and terminally secured to staples 10 attached staples 10.
Mounted on the back of the section 1 adjacent the top there is a receptacle 13 provided with a swinging door 14 in the front of which there is mounted a mirror 15, the
receptacle 14 being designed to hold scissors or other implements or articles necessary to render first aid or to attendwounds.
The cover section 2 is provided with an elastic strap 16 secured by means of spaced staples 17, this strap serving as a means for securing articles such as cheese cloth 18. A similar strap 19 is also carried in the cover by spaced staples 20 and constitutes means for holding a sponge or cotton batting-21.
Having described the invent-ion, what claimed as new and useful is A kit for retaining fragile articles, consisting of a casing composed of sections hingedly connected together, staples carried by one section, an elastic band passing through the staples and bridging the spaces between them and adapted to retain the articles, and holding devices carried by the other section of the casing and removably supporting soft material, the said holding devices being so arranged that, when the easing sections are closed, the soft material held by the holding devices is ln'ought in contact with the fragile articles retained by the elastic band.
