Be it lmown that I, Enna BELINE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at the borough of Bronx, in the city of New York, county of Bronx, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mesh-Bags, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to improvements in mesh-bags; and an object of this invention is to provide a mesh-bagformed with an inner pocket orVpurse-member having a jaw formed with a flange both the end portions of which are hingedly fastened to and fit snugly within a. fia-nge formeel on one of the main jaws of the mesh-bag, this main jaw serving as one of the jaws of both the purse and the mesh-bag. v

Another object of this invention is to provide a. mesh-bag formed with a pocket or purse-member having attached to the inner or smaller jaw thereof a chain from which hangs a vanity7 case or other article of toilet.

In the drawings illustrating the principle of this invention and the best mode now known to me of applying that principle, Figure l is an elevation showing the meshbag open and the purse closed; Fig. 2 is an end view illustrating the mesh-bag closed; Fig. 3 is an elevationl showing both the mesh-bag and the purse open; Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3; and Fig. 5 is a fragmentary section showing all the jaws in closed position.

The frame of the mesh-bag a comprises the angle-metal jaws b, o, hingedly connected at d and each formed with an outer lflange e which forms one wall of a channel or recess f; and these flanges e coperate to hold the other walls g of the jaw recesses f in spaced relation to each other (Fig. 5). The jaws c, are provided with fastening devices z. which interlock with each other when the mesh-bag a. is closed (Fig. 2) and,

to the jaw c, there is suitably attached a strap i by which the mesh-bag a may be slung upon the arm of the user.

v Hingedly attached at j to the flange e of the jaw c are the lopposite end portions of the fiange j of the small or auxiliary jaw j of the purse k. Thisauxiliary jaw y' ts snugly within the channel or recess f, as is clearly shown in Fig. 5; for, the

flange j with which the auxiliary purse jaw j is formed is shaped to flt snugly (Figs. l and 5) within the flange e of the upper part of the main jaw c of the mesh-bag a and is provided Vwith a button-like protuberance j* which springs intov the depression c formed in the flange e, thereby locking the inner jaw y' in its closed position. Thus, the main jaw c serves as a jaw of the purse 7c as well as a jaw of the mesh-bag a. A part a of the mesh a ofthe mesh-bag a serves also to form a. wall of the purse the other wall 7c of which is likewise formed of mesh attached (as shown at kx) to the mesh a of the mesh-bagv a. v

To the inner smaller vj aw y'kof the purse k there is fastened one end of a chain fm. to the other end of which there is attached a vanity case n provided with a mirror o. By means of its flange e, the wall g of the main jaw b' is held spaced from the small jaw y', whenv these jaws are in vclosed position (Fig. 5); and this spacing of the wall gY of the main jaw ZJ from the jaw j provides room for the reception of the chain fm., when the mesh-bag c is closed.

By the arrangement of parts hereinbefore described, a neat, efficient and convenient construction ofthe mesh-bag is effected.

I am aware that it is common to provide mesh-bags with interiorly-arranged purses and pockets. I am also aware of the following-named French patents: No. 330480 granted Socit J. Moche et Cie; No. 372532 granted Charqueraud; and No. 378463 lgranted Grenet. But, in the Moche French Patent No. 330480, the auxiliary jaw is hinged to one of the main jaws on the outside thereof and this arrangement makes it much more diiicult to arrange the mesh and gives the bag a much less neat appearance, while the purse, being on the outside of the bag, is much more exposed to thievery than is an interiorly-arranged purse. In the Charqueraud French Patent, there are two independent purse-jaws and .neither of the main jaws serves as a purse-jaw; moreover, the hinging of the purse-jaws is diiferent from that devised by me and hereinbefore disclosed and results in a less neat and compact structure and, when the main jaws are in open position, the purse jaws are not hidden from view but are fully open thereto. In the Grenet French Patent No. 378463, one end portion of the auxiliary purse-jaw soi is hinged to a post depending from one of the main jaws and the purse jaw is not hidden from view, when the main jaws of the bag are in open position. In the mesh bag hereinbefore described, both the end portions of the flange j are hingedly connected at j to the ange e of the main jaw 0 and' this liange j is shaped, as is clearly shown in Figs. l, 3 and 5, to lie snugly in its closed position within the flange e of this jaw c. The chain m serves as a pull-chain by which to open the auxiliary purse-jaw y', and also as a suspensory member for the vanity case n; and this chain m lies, in the closed position of the main aws Z1, c, within the space inclosed by the flange e of the jaw b, as is shown in Fig. 5.

What I claim is:

l. A mesh bag including a pair of main jaws one of which is formed with a iange which holds said main jaws spaced apart in their closed position; a purse arranged wholly within said mesh bag and having as one of its jaws said main jaw formed with aflange; and an auxiliary purse jaw that extends from side to side of said main jaw and is formed with a `flange both the end portions 'of which are pivotally mounted on the flange of 4'said main jaw and which is Copies of this patent may be obtained for one of said main jaws as one of the jaws of the purse; an auxiliary purse-jaw formed with a flange both the end portions of which are hingedly fastened to the flange of the last-named main jaw andk which is shaped to lie snugly in its closed position within the liange thereof; an article of toilet arranged within the mesh bag; and a suspensory device to which said article is attached; said device lying in the closed position of said main jaws in the spacebetween one of the latter jaws and saidV auxiliary jaw.
