lle it known that l, desert* lozroc, a citi Zen of Foland, residing at lillilwaukee, in the county of lililwankee and State of lWisconsin, have invented certain. new and useful lrnprovernents in Shade and Curtain Holders, of which the following is a specilication.
This inventionrelates to new and useful improvements in combination shade and curtain holders, and has for its primary object thereof the provision. of suon an ar-V 'ticle of manufacture that be easily and expeditiously applied to window frames of varyingdiameters, and when once installed will remainvin an operative position until `removal of the saine is desired.
A further object of this invention is to devise such 'a shade and curtain holder lhaving meansV associated therewith for rigidly engaging the same to the window frame and onewherein no' such fastening means such as nails or the like need be ernployed.
With the above general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature o the invention is better understood, the same consists of the novel forni, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.

Referring incre in particular to the several views, there is disclosed in outline in Fig. l a window frame comprising the usual wooden side freine elements l and 2 to which is adapted to be detachably secured at any convenient point thereon vmy irnproved device. The invention comprises inter-connected, bracket elements 3 positioned for fiat engagement with the outer faces of the side franie members l and 2 and having right--angularly bent end portions d with inwardly' bent projecting prongs 5 formed thereon for biting into the walls of the side frame in a manner hereinafter more fully described.y Upon the opposite ends of each of the brackets 3 there is formed a sleeve portion 6 adapted for tightly receiving the opposite ends of a telescopic rod 7. Upon the hooked ends of the Urackets 3 there is also formed tubular ineinbers 7 flared at their outer ends as at 8 and being so bent as to have these flared outer ends substantially parallel to the longitudinal vanis of each of the brackets 3. .Positioned for detachable engagement with the flared ends of these tulailar portions 7 are the opposite end portions of a telescopio curtain supporting rod 9. The brackets 3 have further formed thereon. a depending leg portion l0 having forwardly projecting; shade roller bracket nieinbers l1, each of the saine being suitably slotted or perforated as at l2 for receivingthe fiat or round end of the shade roller shaft.
As before stated, a telesoopicrod 7 is adapted to be tightly received at its opposite ends within sleeve portions 6 formed upon the brackets 3, and it is to be herein noted that this telescopic rod functions as an adjustable interconnecting ineans between the opposite brackets 3 upon the side frames 1 and 2 of the main window frame. This telescopic rod 7 is formed of two hollow tubular rod members 13 and 14, the said rod lll being of a slightly lesser diameter than the rod 13 whereby the saine may be slidabl positioned therein. This coil spring 16 functions as a tensioning means between the opposite bracket members 3, and in view of this spring member and the telescopic rod 7, rigidly carried by the opposed brackets, the device may be readily extended so as to nt upon window frames of varying diameters, and it will be further noted that when the device is so extended as to engage Vover the side members of a main window frame the teeth or prongs of each of the brackets will be caused to bite into the side Walls of the window frame to be there retained in a permanent position.
In Fig. 5 of the drawing, I have disclosed `a sheet metalblank so Vcut as to form the legs may be also inwardly bent for forming Y the teeth or prongs 5 for biting into the side Between the V-shaped legs 4l of the main section 3 the same has formed thereon a strip of material 7 which strip of material is adapted to be so bent as to form the tubular curtain rod receiving portion of the main bracket 8. The opposite side ofthe main section 3 of the blank is provided with upper and lower ear sections 6 whereby the same are to be so bent as to function as the sleeve portions 6 of each of the brackets. Further, the main section of the blank has a depending leg portion 10 adjacent the sleeve end thereof which depending leg has a bracket member 11, formed thereon which bracket member is adapted to be bent at right angles to the leg portion 10 for receiving the ends of the shade roller.
In Figs. 6 and 7 I have shown a modified form of Window frame engaging bracket having means incorporated directly therein for rigidly securing the said bracket to the upper and lower edges of the upper longitudinal cross member of the window frame.
In this form of the invention, the device is only adaptable for supporting a curtain pole of a particular design. As shown the device comprises a relatively short hollow tube 17 having formed upon its upper edge portion downwardly project-ion prongs 18. This tube 17 is of the open end type and has at its upper open end a solid head member- 19 carrying a depending skirt portion 20 for positioning within the said tube. At the lower end of the said tube there is provided a at plate member 21 having a leg portion formed thereon for positioning within this end of the said tube; and it is to be noticed that thisleg portion 22 is resiliently held within the tube by a coil spring Q3, the opposite ends of which are secured within perforations of the portion 2O of the head 19 and the said leg of the plate member 21. This plate Vmer-aber 21 is provided with a finger engaging piece 24 and it will be readily noted that these bracke members may be secured upon the window frame by engaging the prongs 18 and the outer end of the Vnlate member 21 upon the opposite edges of the said frame.
It will be further understood that twoV of these brackets are to be employed by me and are to be positioned at a distance from each other according to the length of the curtain pole to be used. 'Ihe tubular portion 17 of each of these bracket members have formed thereon a pole retaining means comprising a .strip of sheet material overturned at its upper and lower edges defining a guideway 25 therein for the reception of the opposite end portions of a iiat like curtain pole 26, the said pole retaining member formed on the tube 17 Y being designated b y the numeral 24.
In Fig. 8 there is shown a slightly modified form of the invention as'disclosed in Figs. 1 to e' inclusive and in this modification the device merely comprises means for supporting a plurality of curtain poles 9, and in this instance the bracket 3 in addition to having the curtain pole supporting element 7 as hereinbefore described is also provided with an additional supporting means 9 of a construction substantially similar to the support 7.
It is believed that the advantages and the operation of my invention will be readily understood, and it is to be herein noted that minor changes may be made in the invention without departing from the spirit and scope thereof as claimed.

In a window shade and curtain pole supporting bracket formed from a single sheet metal blank out and bent to form a bracket section,` anchoring prongs, aeurtain pole supporting means, a shade roller supporting vmember, and a resilient clamping rod supporting means; the said sheet metal blank comprising a main bracket section, a longitudinally extending strip carried by one end thereof, Va pair of V-shaped legs can ried by said bracket section end and positioned on either side of said strip, a leg eX- tending laterally from said bracket section, a bracket member carried by said leg, and a pair of opposed ears carried by the remaining end of said bracket section.
2. In a device of the class described, a. pair of oppositely disposed bracket members adapted for engagement upon. the vertical side members of a Window frame, each of said brackets being formed from a single sheet metal blank out and bent to comprise a main body section, a longitudinally extending strip carried by one end of said body section and adapted to be formed into atnbular member having a flared outer end for receiving one end of a 'telescopio Curtain wpole, a pair of V-shaped legs positioned on opposite sides of said strip having their ends bent to forni prongs for biting into a Vertical side of the Window freine, a depending lleg portion carried by the opposite end of said body section, a shade roller supportin bracket carried by said depending leg ancgl bent at right angles thereto, and a pair of opposed ear sections carried by the last nientioned end of said body section and adapted to be bent to forni a sleeve for rigidly receiving one end of a resiliently connected telescopio rod adapted for drawing the said pair of Window frame engaging 4bracket members toward each other for removably securing the entire device to said Jframe.
