Description
P. KUZNIEWSKI' CURTAIN HOLDER Feb. 26, 1924;
Filed Sept. 16
33 vmAf d j cffrffizniews/il Patented Feb. 26, 1924.
UNITE PETER KUZNIEWSKI, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
CURTAIN HOLDER.
Application filed September 16, 1921.
Z '0 all whom it may concern.
Be it knownthat I, PETER KUzNmwsKI, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear. and exact description thereof.
My invention relates to a new and improved curtain holder and its object, broadly, is to provide an improved device of this kind which may be applied to a window casing or the like, without the use of screws or nails or without otherwise marring the woodwork for the purpose of supporting a curtain rod and incidentally for also sup porting a shade roller.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind which will grip the sides of the casing and may be readily adjusted to adapt it to a casing of any standard with. Another important object of the invention is to provide unitary means for securing the same in its adjusted width and simultaneously secure the arm which sup ports the curtain rod and shade roller.
The device will be more fully understood upon reference to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of a window casing with, my invention applied thereto.
Figure 2 is a plan view of my invention applied to a casing.
Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line 3-3 of Figure 2, and
Figure 4. is a sectional plan view of my improved holder.
In the drawing the numeral 1 designates the casing towhich my invention is applied. The bracket which grips the sides of the easing is in the shape of a yoke having a web 2 on which the arms 3 and 4 are slidably mounted and which may be drawn toward each other to grip the sides of the casing by means of the nuts 5 and the arm 6 is adjustably supported on the web 2 so as to extend outwardly and is provided at its outer end with a bearing 7 suitably constructed for receiving one end of the curtain rod 8. A suitable slot or recess 9 is also provided intermediate the ends of the arm 6 to receive one end of a standard curtain roller.
Serial No. 501,052.
The arms 3 and 4. are formed in the shape of an L so as to fit the front side and edge of the casing and are provided with suitable spurs or gripping devices 11. The web 2 is preferably made extensible so that it may be adjusted to fit casings of different widths and, in the form which is illustrated in de tail in Figures 3 and l. One section of the web is formed in the shape of a channel 12 which slidably receives the end 13 of the other section which is polygonal in cross section. The arm 6 which is supported upon. the telescoping portions of these sections is secured in position thereon by means of a set screw 14 or the like. It will be seen therefore that merely by tightening the set screw the two sections of the web will be secured tightly together in adjusted position and the rod supporting arm 6 will be simultaneously secured. The device may then readily be applied to the casing and caused to grip the same securely by tightening one or both of the nuts 5.
It is to be noted that by the construction shown a relatively rough adjustment is secured, and the members 12 and 13 are locked in this adjustment by means of the screw 14 which simultaneously positions the bracket 6, and the tight gripping action of the members 3 and 4 is secured by tightening the nuts 5 upon the threaded extensions. In this manner an adequate grip on the sides of the window casing is secured.
I claim as my invention 1. A curtain rod'holder comprising a yoke of adjustable width adapted to grip opposite sides of a window casing, a curtain rod bracket adjustably mounted upon said yoke, means for locking the yoke in rough ad justment and for simultaneously locking the curtain rod bracket upon said yoke, and means for effecting an accurate adjustment of said yoke and for drawing the terminal portions thereof towards each other.
2. A curtain rod holder comprising a yoke of adjustable width having two overlapping portions, a curtain rod supporting member adjustably clamped to said overlapping portions and adapted to bind them in rough adjusted position, said overlapping portions having screw-threaded extremities, a pair of clamping members slidably carried by said screw-threaded extremities and adapted to grip opposite sides of a window casing, in the eounty of Milwaukee and State of and nuts carried by said screw-threaded ex- WISCODSHI.
tremities and adapted to force said clamp- 1 ing members into binding engagement PETER miSrk 5 against sides of said Window casing. In the presence of In testimony that I claim the foregoing S. S. LUKASZEWICZ, I have hereunto set my hand at Milwaukee, PAUL PEI-ISA.
