Description

fatented Jan. 29, 1924.
MORRIS KALK, F TULSA, OKLAHOBIA.
BELT BUCKLE.
Application led May 4,
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, MORRIS KALK, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Tulsa, in the county of Tulsa and vState of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt Buckles, of which the` following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in the construction of belt buckles and the primary purpose of the invention is to provide a buckle of sim` ple and inexpensive construction embodying means for holding the same in a fixed position on the belt so that objectional slippage of the buckle while in use in effectuall. eliminated.
ther purposes and advantages of the invention not specifically stated above will become apparent from the followin detailed description and accompanying drawings, in which- Fig. l is a perspective view of a belt having my improved buckle applied thereto.
Fig. 2 is an edge view of thel construction shown in F ig l.
Fig. 8 is an end side elevational view of the belt and buckle disclosed in Fig. l.
Fi 4 is a fragmentary longitudinal sectiona View.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 5 designates a belt of conventional form provided adjacent to the end 6 with guide loops 7 adapted to receive the remaining end 8 of the belt therethrough, the said end 6 being provided with a metal loop 9 adapted to be engaged over a curved hook member l0 carriedl by the front plate ll of my improved buckle and passing through an opening l2 formed in the end 8 of the belt. The said front plate 1l of the buckle has the side or longitudinal edges thereof 1923. Serial No. 636,700.
turned inwardly to provide flanges 13 and 14 adapted to overlie the corresponding edges of the belt 5 and these flanges are interconnected adjacent one end by a trans verse guide bar l5, the aforementioned curved hook l0 being positioned adjacent l the opposite ends of the flanges.
As herein shown the end 7 of the belt is provided with a series of openings l2 and 5G that the curved hook lO of the buckle may be engaged with a selected one of said openings by moving the buckle longitudinally of the belt in an obvious manner. By reason of the fact that the curved hook 10 55 passes through the material of the belt, it will be evident that the buckle is held against any possibility of slippage such as frequently occurs with detachable buckles of this type. The curved hook l0 is further 60 held against any possibility of withdrawal through the vopening 12 in which it is engaged, by reason of the loop 9 intervening between said hook and the inner surface of the belt.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
The combination with a belt provided with a metal loop at one end and with a longitudinally extending series of apertures at the opposite end., of a buckle adapted to receive the apertured end of the belt therethrough and provided with a. hook member adapted to pass through a selected one of the said apertures and to be engaged through the said loop to secure the ends of the belt together.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
MORRIS KALK.
