W. E. DUNBAR SWIVEL BRACKET Filed Oct. 2'7. 1922 Patented, Get. 9, 1923.
nane WILLIAM E. DUNZBAR, OF JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA.
SWIVEL BRACKET.
Application filed flctober 27, 1922. Serial No. 597,347.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, l/VILLIAM E. DUN'BAR a citizen of the United States, residing at Jacksonville, in the county of Duval and State of Florida, have invented new and useful Improvements in Swivel Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to V supporting brackets for use in. holding maps, blue prints, pictures and in fact many articles in upright position and in such a manner that the various separate articles may be swung or turned to ermit examination thereof and of the underlying object's.
An important object is the provision of a device of this character w ich includes supports adapted tobc mounted upon a wall or the like and with which are pi it connected links with which are in turn pivotally connected arms which car supports for the maps, blue prints, 1. or the like, a plurality of these units being provided and all being similar.
An additional object is the provision of a 25 device of this character which will be siinple and inexpensive; in manufacture, easy to install, eflicient and durable in use and. a general improvement in the art.
lVith the above and other objects and advantages in view the invention consists in the details of construction to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illus trated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation illustrating mytinve'ntion,
' Figure 2 is a plan view,
Figure 3 is a, tionary leaf. 7
Referring more particularly to the drawings the letter A designates an upright support which might be a wall, post or the like and upon which my device is mounted.
In carrying out my invention I provide hinge leaves 10 provided with holes 11 for the passage of securing means by virtue of which they may be secured to the wall or post A. Each hinge leaf is'formed with spaced knuckles 12 through which passes a removable pintle pin 13. Associated with each hinge leaf is a link 14 provided with a series of similar vertically extending transperspective view of the staverse holes 15, one endmost hole being designed for the passage of a pintle pin 13 whereby the link will be pivotally mounted with respect to the hinge leaf. The numeral 16 designates a preferably rectangular sheet of material which may be of wood, fiber, wall board or the like andupon which be suitably mounted a map, blue print, picture orother'objeet to be exhibited. Each sheet 16 has secured thereto two or more transverse bars or strips 17 which project beyond one edge and which are formed with depending trunnions 18. It is intended that a plurality of these members 16 be used and that the trunnions 18 be engaged within the successive holes 15 in the links 14;.
i'issuming that the device has been constructed and assembled as above deseriher it will be apparent that all the members 16 are freely rotatable with respect to the members lei and that the links lat are capable of.
swinging movement upon the pi'ntle pins '13. In this wayv it will be seen that the various members 16 may be quickly and easily swung with res sect to one another and with respect to the wall A whereby to permit ready inspection or examination of the objects carried by the sheets 16.
/Vhile I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention it is of course to be understood that I reserve the right to make such changes inthe form, construction and. arrangement of parts as will not depart from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention I claim:
A device of the character described com prising a series of hinge leaves formed with knuckles anddesigned to be mounted upon an upright supporting surface, lJlilFlG pins passingvthrough the knuckles of each leaf, a link for each leaf provided with a plurality of spaced vertical holes, one endinost hole being designed for the reception 0.? he ,pinth pin, and a supporting sheet carrying arms formed with depending trunnions rotatably engaged within other holes of the links,- the links being adapted to carry a plurality of sheets. 7
In testimon whereof I afiix my signature.
' XVILLIAM DUNBAR.
