To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HANZABURO HARASE, a subject of the Emperor of Japan, residing in the city and county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Telephone Card-Directory Holder, of which the following is a specification. I

This invention relate to a new and useful attachment for telephones, and aims as one of its objects, to provide a support for a card index or directory that may be clamped to the telephone standard or to the telephone box, as the case may be, so that the directory is convenient and accesssible for the user of the telephone.

With the above objects in view the invention contemplates the employment of a bracket having means for clamping the same to the telephone standard or box, as the case may be, and a. rest for the directory slidable upon the bracket, the bracket having a stop which limits the amount towhich the telephone rest may be extended on the supporting bracket. The invention includes any form of clamp for attachment to a table, window-sill, or like article.

In carrying out the invention it will be understood that the essential features are susceptible of structural changes and variations, but a preferred and practical embodiment of the same is shown in the accompanying drawings.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my device attached to a telephone standard. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a modified form attached to a telephone box. Fig. 3 is a perspective detail view of the device shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 1 is a perspective detail view showing the bottom side of the device shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a detail view of the device shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 6 is a detail view showing the rest or support attached to the bracket.

Referring to the drawings, my improved device consists of a bracket 11, provided with a clamp member 12, for attachment to a telephone standard 13. The bracket 11 has its extremity 14, bent as shown in Figs. 3 and 4; the bent portion serving as a catch to limit the amount to which the card rest or plate 15, may be extended upon the bracket. The card plate 15, has two plates or guides 16, riveted thereto and extending over the bracket 11. hen the card plate is in its fully extended position, the stop 14 is in engagement with the portion 17, of guides 16. Clamps 18, on card plate .15, are adapted to hold a number of the directory cards 19. In the extended position of the card plate, the cards may be readily turned similar to the leaves of a book, and the cards that are so turned will be supported by the bracket. Screws 20 are employed to bind the clamp members 12 together.

In the modified form shown in Figs. 2 and 5, the clamp member 21 i secured to a rod 22, and is adapted to clamp upon the edge of a telephone box 23. A similar clamp member 24 is slidable upon rod 22. The extremity-25 of rod 22, is threaded and provided with a clamping nut 26. A central member 27 is slidable upon bar 22, and may be clamped thereon in any preferred position, by a set screw 28. A bracket 29 extends from member 27 and is relatively at an angle of 4L5 degrees with the bar 22. The card plate 30 slides upon bracket 29.

In securing the device to the standard of a telephone, the same may be clamped in any desired position so as not to interfere with the convenient handling of the telephone. When the directory is not in use, the card plate may be left in close proximity to the clamp member, and there by present a neat appearance, and when extended, the exposed portion of the bracket serves as a support for the turned cards.

What is claimed is:

1. A device as described, comprising a clamp adapted to be secured to the standard of a telephone, a bracket extending therefrom and mounted to be relatively at an angle of 45 degrees with the telephone standard, a card plate slidable upon the bracket,

and a turned extremity on the bracket serv ing to limit the outward movement of the card plate.

2. A device as described, comprising a clamp adapted to be secured to a telephone standard, a bracket extending therefrom, a card plate slidable on the bracket, and a stop on the bracket to limit the outward movement of the card plate in its extended position.

A device as described, comprising a clamp adapted to be secured to a telephone standard, a bracket extending therefrom, a sliding card plate mounted thereon, guides integral with the card plate and engaging with the bracket, and a turned extremity to the bracket and engaging with the guides a bracket. means for attaching the bracket 15 in the extended position of the card plate.

In a telephone card directory holder, a clamp adapted to be secured to a telephone, a bracket extending therefrom, a card plate slidable on the bracket, a stop on the bracket to retain the card plate in its extended position, said bracket serving as a rest for the directorycards in the extended position 01 the card plate, and card clamps 0n the card plate, said card clamps being in a central position in the extended position of the card plate.

In a telephone card directory holder,

to a telephone, a card plate slidable upon the bracket, guides on the bracket serving to maintain the alignment of the card plate, a stop on the bracket limiting the outward movement of the card plate, and arranged so that the exposed portion of the bracket serves as a support for the directory cards in the fully extended position of the plate, and card clamps on the card plate.
