Be it known that ERNEST M. LEVYBLANO, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, has in vented new and useful Improvements in Garment-Display Stands, of which thefollowing is a specification. V i
The object of the invention is to provide an efficient display stand or rack for garments, designed to hold the supported garment infthe most'fa'vorable condition to indicate the shape, set and style thereof andas near as possible to demonstrate the appearance thereof when actually worn; and with this object in view the invention consists in a construction and combination of parts of which a preferred embodiment is shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a view of the stand or rack adapted for supporting trousers.
Figure 2 is a detail view of the upright used in connection therewith.
Figure 3 is a similar vie of the slide and attached locking means.
Figure 1 is a similar view of one of the shoes carried by the supporting arms.
Figure 5 is a standard employed in connection with a suit or skirt supporting stand.
Figure 6 is a detail View of the foot of one of the standards.
Figure 7 is a View of the stand or rack arranged for supporting a skirt or ladies suit.
Figures 8 and 9 are detail views of the forming frames employed respectively in connection with the stand as arranged in 7 and 1. V
Essentially the device consists of supporting means carrying an upright which in the construtcion illustrated in Figure 1 is shown at 10, upwardly divergentsupporting arms 11, braces 12 'hingedly connected, as at 13 to the supporting arms and also hingedly connected, as at 14 to a slide or sleeve 15 mounted upon the upright and shown in detail in Figure 3, and forming frames 16 which are carried by the upper ends of the supporting arms 11 and which in the construction shown in Figure 1 are connected with said supportin arms by means of shoes 17 shown in detail in Figure 4.
The forming frames are preferably con structed of wire and embody front and rear members 16 and 16 which are of plural ply form and are bulged or arched with their ends arrangedin adjacent or slightly overlapping relation according to the adjustment of the supporting arms 11 and the girth of the garment which is supported thereby, to maintain the garment in a proper position to show the shape thereof as when worn. The construction illustrated in Figure 1 is particularly designed for, displaying trousers and the shoes 17 are provided with reduced or cut in portions 1'7 at their upper ends to receive the waist band of the garment while the front and. rear portions thereof are held in proper position by the forming frames, and the support is represented by the standards 18 which support the arms 11 and upright 10 and which are provided at their lower ends with feet' 19 preferably movable to positions in alignment with the standards to permit of extending the latter through the legs of the trousers. The feet as shown are hinged at 20 to the lower ends of the standards and are provided with catches 21 for engaging studs 22.
In order to hold the expanding frame represented by theisupported arms Figure 1 and forming frames carried thereby at the desired adjustment to properly supportthe garment, the slide or sleeve 15 which is slidably mounted upon the upright 10 is.
provided with a spring 23 having a tooth 24 for engagement with a selected seat 25 in a plate 26 inset in the upright as shown in detail in Figure 2.
In the form of the device which is illustrated in Figure 7 the upright 10 corresponding with that described in relation to the form shown in Figure 1 carries the expanding frame consisting of the supporting arms 11, braces .12, slide or sleeve 15 and looking device 23 together with complemental forming frames 27 shown in detail in Figure 8 and having the front and rear members 27 and 27 of which the latter are adapted to support the shoulder portions of a garment This .11, braces 12, slide or sleeve 15 and lock ing means 23 with terminal shoes-17 on the extremities of said supporting arms, as a means of holding the skirt portion of'the garment indicated in dotted lines at 29 in the proper position, the shoes 17 serving as a means of engaging the waist band of the sflirt just as the shoes 17 serve to engage the Waist band of trousers orplikegarment.
The upright 1O of the form shotvn in" Figure 7 is supported by a standard .18 v which in the Vconstruction illustrated is formed as a part of the said'upright'and is provided With a suitable foot 19.
connected at their lovverends to said up- Having described the invention, What is claimed as new and useful is g 1. A garment display stand having an up right; upwardlydivergent arms :hingedly right, a sleeve slidably' mounted onsaid up- 'hinge'd eonnections at their lower ends 'With right and provided With means for adjustment longitudinally of the'upri ght, brace members hinged-1y connected at their upper ends with the sleeves and depending therefrom in" divergent relation and having the upwardly divergent arms at intermediate' points of'the l at'ter, and garment formsearri'ed by the upper extremities of upright; adjustable means for uniformly varying the angular relation between said armsands'aiduprights, and garment forms consisting of independent frames having shoes mounted upon the upper extremities -of thefarms an'd provided With-forwardly and rearwardlydire'ete'd Wings," said shoes being channeled shaped and disposedwin straddling relation with the free extremities -35 of said arms and having reduced or out in portionsat' their upper ends to receive the Waistband of a garment.
In. testimony whereof he affixes-his "Signature.
