2 Claims.
This invention relates to garments and more particularly to overalls, trousers and the like, the invention contemplating the providing of the legs of overalls, trousers, and similar 'gar- 5 ments with complemental fastener elements whereby a cuff, single or double, can be readily provided, and/or the trouser leg permitted to hang full or to be readily secured in a contracted condition about the leg of the wearer.
The invention together with its objects and advantages will be best understood from a study of the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein:
Figure 1 is an elevational view showing fragmentarily the legs of trousers, overalls or the like, and illustrating the invention.
Figure 2 is an elevational view of a trouser or overall leg illustrating the invention when providing a single cuff for the leg and for securing the leg at the cuff in a contracted condition.
Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken substantially on the line 8-8 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a sectional view through the leg of the trousers showing the same in a contracted condition.
Figure 5 is a view similar to Figure 4 but showing the trouser leg provided with a double cuff and in contracted condition.
Figure 61s a sectional view taken substantially on the line 6-6 of Figure 5. I
Figure 7 is a sectional view taken through the trouser leg when provided with a double cuff.
Figure 8 is a detail sectional view taken sub- 3 stantially on the line 8-8 of Figure 1.
Referring more in detail to the drawings it will be seen that the reference numerals 55 indicate the legs of trousers, overalls, or the like.
In accordance with the invention each leg 5 m at one side of the leg, for example, at the front side thereof, is provided adjacent the lower edge of the leg and exteriorly of the leg with fastener elements 5 and 8, which in the present instance are shown as being in the form of sockets.
Further up on the leg, exteriorly of the leg, are complemental fastener elements 1 and 8 which are in the form of studs.
Also spaced upwardly from the fastener elements 1 and 8 and in line therewith are fastener elements 8 and Ill which also are in the form of studs.
Above the fastener elements 9 and ill and slightly to one side of the longitudinal center of the leg is a fastener element II in the form of a socket while in line with the fastener element II, and disposed laterally of the element II and above the fastener element I is a fastener element II. The fastener element II is in the form of a socket and the fastener element I2 is in the form of a stud.
Also, in accordance with the present invention there is sewed or otherwise secured to said side of the leg interiorly thereof and slightly above the plane of the fastener elements and 6, fastener elements l3 and H. The fastener 10 elements I3 and I4 are in the form of sockets.
Arranged intermediate the fastener elements I3 and I4 and closer to the fastener elements i3 than the elements It and also disposed interiorly of the legs, is a fastener element i5. This fastener element I5 is in the form of a stud while slightly above the element i5 and below the elements 1 and 8 there is also secured to the leg at the inside thereof a fastener element It that is in the form of a socket.
Also arranged interiorly of the leg, in line with the fastener elements I! and 8, and slightly below the fastener element 8 in substantial transverse alignment with the fastener element I8 is a fastener element ll that is in the form of a stud.
The purposes of so providing the fastener elements will be apparent from the following:
When it is desired to provide the trouser leg with a single cuff such as shown in Figure 2 and indicated by the reference numeral I8, the lower end of the leg above the plane of the fastener elements 5 and 6 and below the fastener elements I and 8 is folded exteriorly so that the fastener elements 5 and 6 engage the fastener elements l and 8 thus providing and securing a single cuff such as shown at l8 for the trouser leg.
When it is desired to secure the leg contracted about the leg of the wearer when the trouser leg is provided with a single cuff l8, said leg of the trouser is creased as suggested by broken lines in Figure 2, and as also shown in Figure 4 so that the fasteners II and [2 are secured together and the fasteners l4 and I5, which, by forming the cuff I8 are disposed exteriorly of the leg, are secured together.
When a double-rolled cuff is desired the cuff i8 is first formed after which the cuflf I8 is then folded back on the leg to provide the doublerolled cuff I! as shown in Figure 5. When the cuff I9 is provided fastener I3 is engaged with fastener 9 and fastener I4 is engaged with fastener Hi.
When it is desired to contract the leg of the garment after the forming of the cuff IS, the
garment leg is suitably creased as indicated by broken lines in Figure 5 so that fasteners II and I! are engaged together and fasteners l8 and H are engaged together.
Thus it will be seen that in accordance with the present invention the trouser legmay be provided with a single-roll cuff, such as at It, or a double-roll cuff such as at l9, and with either a single-roll or a double-roll cuff the leg of the trouser may be secured in a contracted condition.
In Figure 1 is shown the leg in a contracted condition and provided with a double-roll cuff It.
It is believed that a complete understanding of the invention and an appreciation of its utility and advantages will be had without a more detailed description.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new is:
1. A pair of trousers comprising a leg, opposed pairs of exteriorly located fasteners on said leg adjacent diametrically opposite sides thereof, respectively, spaced longitudinally of the leg at the bottom thereof and complemental in each pair, whereby said bottom may be rolled and connected together to form an exterior single cuff thereon, and opposed pairs of fastenerson said leg at diametrically opposite sides thereof, respectively, spaced longitudinally of the leg and complemental in each pair, the fasteners in the secondmentioned pairs alternating with those of the first-mentioned pairs higher up on said leg and each of the second-mentioned pairs of fasteners comprising an exteriorly and an interiorly located fastener, respectively, whereby said leg may be rolled and the complemental fasteners of the second-mentioned pairs secured together to form a double cut! on said leg.
2. A pair of trousers comprising a leg, opposed pairs of exteriorly located fasteners on said leg adjacent diametrically opposite sides thereof, respectively, spaced longitudinally of the leg at the bottom thereof and complemental in each pair, whereby said bottom may be rolled and connected together to form an exterior single cuif thereon, and opposed pairs of fasteners on said leg at diametrically opposite sides thereof, respectively, spaced longitudinally of the leg and complemental in each pair, the fasteners in the second-mentioned pairs alternating with those of the first-mentioned pairs higher up on said leg and each of the second-mentioned pairs of fasteners comprising an exteriorly and an interiorly located fastener, respectively, whereby said leg may be rolled and the complemental fasteners of the second-mentioned pairs secured together to form a double cufl on said leg, and means for securing the said leg together in diagonally folded position comprising a pair of exterior complemental fasteners on said leg above the first and second-mentioned pairs, spaced apart crosswise of the leg for securing the same together adjacent the knee, and pairs of complemental bottom fasteners on the interior of the leg for securing the bottom together in said diagonally folded position of the leg, the bottom fasteners of each pair being spaced apart crosswise of the leg and one pair above another whereby said bottom pairs may be turned to position the same exteriorly of said leg as an incident to formation of single and double cuffs, respectively, on said leg.
