LABEL F0133 EPOISQNOUS CONTAINERS.
Application filed. october 3, 1921.
Z '0 a iii/mm if; 'na'iy concern:
Be it known that we, LORENZO MAR'MN Avnnson and JOHN LEONARD Haunt, citi zens of the United States, residing, respectively, at bit. Paul, count of Ramsey, and Minneapolis, county of lennepin both in the State of ltlinnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Labels for Poisonous Containers, of which the followinn is a specification.
Uur invention relates to improvements in labels for poisonous containers.
lts object is to provide, a simple and inexpensive article of this kind adapted to be conveniently attached to containers for poisons, whereby handlers thereof may be apprised, through the sense of touch, of the. dangerous contents.
Viith the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear in the following description, the invention resides in the novel combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter de scribed and claimed.
In the drawings, Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a label embodying our invention, the two members ofthe body being separated at one end to illustrate the method in which staples are applied thereto; Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view in detail illustrating one of the staplesand Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional view taken through the body of the article.
We have used the reference numerals l0 and 11, in the drawings, to indicate the front and back members, which comprise the body A of our improved label. These members are preferably pieces of paper. Staples l3, having the heads 12 thereof bent at right angles to the prongs 18 (Fig. 2) are applied to the body member 10, by thrustinn said prongs through said member and bringing the heads 12 against the back thereof (Fig. 1). I The body member 11.
having a coating of gum 1a or other adhesive material on the back thereof, 1s pasted Serial No. 504,909.
or otherwise bonded at its front side to the back of the body member l0. The heads 12 of the staples ii, are held between said memers l0 and 11, thus bracing the prongs lfi of the staples and securely anchoring the same in the, body of the label. Lettering orother legl'ible matter may be placed upon the face of the label, if desired, to serve the purpose of ordinary labels. 'Our label is propm'tionrd in respect to the containers to which they are to be applied and so ar ranged thereon that the handler thereof will touch the label, the prongs 13 or pins projecting: therefrom at once apprising him of the nature of the label, .711 employing our label for a poisonous container, one having access thereto is warned, through the sense of touch alone, of the dangerous contents and. may, thereby, avoid unintentional use of the same.
It will be understood that changes in the specific form of our invention and in the materials andv parts thereof, as herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what claimed without departing from the spirit of our invention.
Having described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to protectby Letters Patent is:
In a label, a body comprising two mem bers, a. plurality of pins reaching through one member and projecting from one side thereof, the heads of said pins bearing against the oppositeside of said member to form bracing elements, the second memher being applied to the first member to anchor the pins in the body and being gummed on its outer surface for applyingthe body to a container, said members being flexible and the pins arranged in rows to permit of close conformation of the gummed side of said body with a curved surface.
In testimony whereof, we have signed our names to this specification.
LORENZO MARTIN AVEhSON. JOHN LEONARD HAGIE.
