To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CARL NEUMANN, a citizen of Germany, residing at New .York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Button Hooks, of which the following is a specification. I

This invention relates to button hooks and themain bject is toprovide a device which will engage the collar button at the throat; and effectively slip the outer lap of a collar or other neckwear into engagement with the said button in a ready manner and without additional manipulation, thus avoiding obvious uncomfortable manipulation with the fingers.

Another object is. to provide a modified type of button hook in Which means are eme bodied whereby said button hook can be quickly enlarged or reduced'for use with various sizes of buttons. 7

These and otherfobjects will become apparent in the description below, in which characters of reference refer. to like-named parts in the drawing. 7

Referring briefly to. the drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the button hook on an article ofneckwear.

Figure 2 is a side elevational View of the same.

Figure 3 is a side elevational view of Fig.- ure 2.

Figure 4 is a perspective view illustrating the method of using the button hook.

Figure 5 is a fragmentary elevational view of a. modified form of button hook.

Describing the drawing indetail, the nu meral 1 represents the neckband of a collar which has a turned-down outer strip 2 securely sewed thereto. Said collar is con ventionally worn about the neck of a person. The collar is usually attached to the shirt band at the rear by a button which passes thru the rear button hole 3. The front 001- municates with the opening at its smaller end.

The lowerend of the buttonhook is a duplicate of' the upper but is located in a different plane due to the quarter bend indicated by the numeral 10*.

The modified type of button hook as rep,

resented in Fig. 5 is substantially of the same contour and shape as the preferred form, and has an enlarged 'end 10, which tapers down to a rounded head 11. The extreme ends of the rounded head 11 are:

12 and 13, the latter being formed on the exterior edge'of the rounded head on one of the ends,

while the former proiects from the opposite end and'lies adjacent to and incontactwith the projection 18. Lugs

18 and 19 extend from the surface of. the blade 16 on opposite sides of the slit 17.

Lug 18 has a right hand thread'passing therethru while the lug 19 is similarly provided with a left hand thread.

The ends of said stud threads into their respective lugs 18 and 1 9 and a hole 21 centrally located on said stud is provided to receive a pin or the like, when the stud is to be rotated.

difficulty of afiixing the outer lap 23 in place on the collar button is obvious, and is eliminated by the described button hook which is passedthru the button hole 5 of the outer lap 23, and the head of said collar button 7 1 is engaged in the smaller opening 8 of the button hook, the latter being then rotated about the collar button until the outer lap has been secured in place upon the button.
