w Z N W W d a T W/T/VESSES A TTORIVEVS s cc. PNOT TITO CLEMENT SAVARESE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
NEGKTIE.
Application filed April 17, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Trro C. SAVARESE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Necktie, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to bow neckties, and it has for its principal object to provide a tie so constructed that both ends or tips can be brought to the front of the bow so as to make a neat and more attractive appearance.
A more specific object of the invention is to provide a necktie which has in one end a pair of spaced button-holes which are adapted to register so that the end of the tie which ordinarily lies behind the bow can be brought to the front so that the bow when completed will have a more symmetrical and pleasing appearance.
With such and other objects in View, the invention comprises various novel features of construction and arrangement of parts which will be set forth with particularity in the following description and claims appended hereto.
In the accompanying drawing, which illustrates one embodiment of the invention and wherein similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views,
Figure 1 is a plan view of the tie laid out flat;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the neck tie with the ends tied into a bow and a portion of the knot of the bow being broken y;
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section of the bow before the end of the tie is brought through to the front; and
Gopies of this patent may be obtained for five Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 8, 1918.
Serial No. 229,074.
Fig. 4c is a similar view showing both ends of the tie at the front of the bow, the section being taken on the line H, Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawing, 1 designates the band portion or string of the tie and 2 and 3 the tie or bow-forming ends, the end 2 being provided with two vertical slits 4L and 5 or buttonholes. The buttonhole 4 is set inwardly from one extremity and the two buttonholes are suitably spaced apart so that the portion lying between the buttonholes will form one of the looped. wings of the bow, with the buttonholes in registry with each other, and the portion lying outwardly from the buttonhole 4 will form an end wing of the bow.
The necktie is applied to a collar and tied in the usual manner to form the doubled or looped wings 6 and 7 and the end wings or tips 8 and 9, as shown in Fig. 3, the buttonholes 4 and 5 being in register. To complete the tying of the bow the tip 9 is put through the buttonholes 4 and 5 so as to bring such tip to the front of the looped wings 7 as clearly shown in Figs 2 and 4.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A bow necktie having slits spaced longitudinally apart in one end of the tie, and the outermost slit being spaced inwardly from the extremity of the tie.
2. A bow composed of looped wings and tip wings, one of the looped wings having registering openings and a tip wlng passlng through the openings, whereby both t1p wings will lie at the front of the bow.
