To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, WILLIAM G. Mo- CAUGHEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ripon, in the county of San Joaquin, State of'C-alifornia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Holders; and I do declare the fol.- lowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this application.

This invention relates to improvements in a means for holding and retaining a neck tie in the collar of the wearer. The object of the invention is to produce a detachable holder whereby the tie may be made up on a retaining member and thereafter placed on and off the collar without the necessity of tying and untying the same. This has an advantage of both permitting the tie to retain its nicety of appearance and also overcomes the objectionable feature of having it stick inside of the collar and become torn or otherwise disarranged.

A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and inexpensive device and yet one which wilLbe exceedingly effective for the purposes for, which it is designed.

These obyects I accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangement of parts as will fully appear by a perusal of the following specification and claim.

Referring now more particularly to the characters of reference on the drawings, I

first provide a small wire or bar 1 over which may be knotted or arranged the tie 2. Rings 3 are looselylinked on the ends of the bar 1 and are adapted to normally'proiectbeyond the edges of the tie. ,The nu-, meral designates the flexible neck band provided on its ends with hooks or other fastening members 5 arranged to have engagementwith the rings 3. The tie 2 is placed over the member 1 in any desired artistic manner. The band 4 is placed around the collar and is of such length as to frictionally engage the collar when the tionable. By having drawing is a perspective hooks 5 are engaged with the rings 3. The rings 3 will of course be hidden under the turn-down flaps of the collar. By means of the abovestructure the tie 2 may be readily and easily placed in or removed from the collar. The same tie holder may .be used for any number of ties as it is very easy to knot the same over the member 1. It will be obvious to wearers of neck ties that the advantages of the above structure are many, the foremost of which is the ease with which the same may be placed in and out of the collar and that the appearance of the tie when once artistically knotted, need not thereafter be disarranged.

I am aware that neck tie holders have been made in which rigid eyes are fixed at each end of the cross bar. In this form of holder, such rigid eyes project beyond the tie and engage and hold the collar flaps in a protruding position, which is very objecthe end rings loosely linked to the cross bar, however, this objectionable feature is done away with, since the loose rings conform to the circle of the collar and therefore fit smoothly underneath the collar flaps.

From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that I have produced such a device as substantially fulfilsthe object of the invention as set forth herein.

While this specification sets forth in detail the present and preferred construction of the device, still in practice such deviations from such detail may be resorted to as do not form a departure from the spirit of the invention, as defined by the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:.

A neck-tie holder comprising a rigid member over which the tie may be knotted, rings loosely linked on the ends of such member, whereby such rings may conform to the circle of the collar on which the neck tie. may be mounted and fit smoothly underneath the collar flaps, a flexible neck band, and hooks on the ends of the neck band arranged for engagement with the rings.
