The object of my said invention is the provision of a four-in-hand tie, embodying such a construction that it may be expeditiously and easily tied and applied in such a manner as to present a neat and dressy appearance.

To the attainment of the foregoing, the invention consists in the improvements as here.- inafter described and definitely claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification:

Figure 1 is a front view of the necktie constituting the preferred embodiment of my invention, as the same appears when applied to a wearer.

Figure 2 is a rear view of the upper portion of the same.

Figure 3 is a front view, showing the comparatively wide tab of the necktie constructed in accordance with my invention.

Figure 4f is a rear view of the said tab and showing the male and female fastener members with which it is equipped.

Similar numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all of the views of the drawings.

My novel tie is preferably constructed of material commonly used in the fabrication of four-in-hand neckties, and as will be readily understood from the drawings, the tie comprises a neck band portion l, a tab 2, and a comparatively wide tab 3. The tie is intended to be tied in a conventional manner as indicated by i in Figure 2, and it will be noted that the portion of the tab 3, adjacent to the neck band l is equipped on its forward side with a layer 5 of the same material as the remainder of the tie. The said layer 5 is lapped over the longitudinal edges of the tab 3 and provided with flaps 6, Figure 4, disposed at the inner side of the tab 3. The layer 5 and its tabs 6 are connected to the tab 3 by stitches as designated by 7. Also in furtherance ofmy invention, the flaps 6 are provided with male and female fasteners 8, stitched or otherwise appropriately attached to the flaps 6, so as to be strongly carried thereby.

In the practical use of my novel necktie, the neckband l is adjusted about the collar of the wearer and is tied in conventional or any other appropriate manner as designated by 4 in Figure 2, and with this done, the fastener bearing portion of the liaps 6 are brought together as designated by 9 in Figure 2, and so that the male and female fasteners are engaged and detachably held together. lVhen my novel necktie is applied and adjusted, as stated, it will be noted that a portion l0 simulating an attractive knot will be afliorded, with the result that a dressy appearance will be imparted to the tie, no matter how poorly the tie may be tied, and even when, after being passed about the collar of the wearer, the comparatively narrow tab 2 is passed downwardly at the inner side of the portion of the tab 3 that bears the layer 5.

Irrespective of the manner in which the neck tie is tied, or the tab 2 is arranged, as stated, it will be understood that the layer 5 with its flaps 6, connected in the manner described will clamp and hold the pendent portion of the tab. 2, so that a finished appearance of the tie will be assured, and slipping of the knot simulating portion 10 will be avoided.

In addition to the practical advantages ascribed to my novel tie, it will be noted that the tie is almost as simple and inexpensive in construction as a conventional four-in-hand necktie and it is entirely freev of delicate parts, such as are likely to get out of order after a short period of use.

I have entered into a detailed description of the preferred embodiment of my invention, in order to impart a full, clear, and exact understanding of the said embodiment.

I do not desire, however, to be understood as limiting myself to the precise construction shown and described, my invention being delined by my appended claim, within the scope of which modifications may be made, without departing from my invention.

I claim:

As a new article of manufacture, a fourin-hand necktie comprising a neckband portion and tabs, one of the tabs being com* paratively wide, a layer disposed in front of the wide tab adjacent the neckband ortion and extending across said wide tab aving aps at the rear side of the tab, said layer and flaps stitched to the tab, and male and female fastener members carried by the flaps at the rear sides thereof and adapted to be detachably connected together to hold opposed portions of the flaps and wide tab 1n parallelism and at right angles to the ma'or portion of the wide tab at the back o the tie, whereby a knot simulating portion is afforded.
