Be it known that I, ROBERT E. GARRETT, resident of Nashville, in the county Davidson and State of Tennessee, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Underwear, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in underwear and refers particularly to what are known in the trade as knee length mit free and easy movement and will protect the knee from contact with the trousers and which will also provide means for the supporting of the hose, the construction and hose supporting means cooperating to retain the garment in proper position without discomfort or hindrance to the wearer.

Another object of my invention is the provision of an under garment, which while possexing the features of merit stated, will be capable of production at practically the same cost as garments in present use, thus insuring a desirable, practical and highly useful article of this character.

To attain the desired objects my invention consists of an under garment embodying novel features of construction and arrangement of parts substantially as shown, de-- scribed and particularly defined and distinguished by the claims.

The construction in detail and the advantages of my improved under garment will be more fully understood from the accompanying drawing, in which:

The under garment constructed in accordance with my invention may be used in connection with a union suit A, or in connection with a pair of drawers B, and the invention resides in the construction and shape of the leg portion C, such leg portion being provided with the lower extensions D, which are cut away as at E, to allow bending movement of the legs F, said edge around the extension and cut away portion being provided with a strengthening or reinforcing strip or binding G, and depending from said. strip is the elastic hose supporter H,- the garment fitting upon the figure J, and assuming the position shown in the drawing.

The leg portions thus have the extensions D, providing the cut away portions E, and from the binding strip F, at its lower edge is attached on the inner and outer side, the hose supporters H, which support the stockings smoothly and securely and also retain the extensions in proper 'position under all conditions. v

The advantages of my garment will be instantly apparent and it will be noted that the improvement provides a knee length under garment which will properl fitthe figure, which will permit bending o the knee without moving upward, which will further form a hose supporter, and which can be manu factured at a price to make its use highly desirable.

I claim:

1. A garment of the character described, having its leg portions extended below the knee at the front portion and cut away toward the rear portion to cover and protect the knee and prevent creeping -up of the leg portions upon bending of the knees, a binding strip around the extended and cut away portions, to provide a stiffening and reinforcing for said end cut away extended portions, and hose supportin means depending from said binding strip at the extended portion to retain the extension below the knee and also support the stocking.

2. A garment of the character described, having its leg portions extended below the knee at the. front portion and cut away to ward the rear portion to cover and protect the knee and prevent creeping up of the leg portions upon bending of the knees, a, binding strip around the extended and cut away portions, to provide a stiffening and rein- 5 forcing for said end cut away extended portions, and hose supporting means depending from said binding strip, at the extended portion to retain the extension below the knee and also support the stoekin said hose supporting means consisting o a. pair of hose supporting members for each leg section connected to the binding strip at its lower portion.
