IMPROVEMENT IN TRUNKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 145,435, dated December 9, 1873; application fili d November 6, 1873.
To all whom fit may concern:
Be it known that I, HARVEY L. LoWnAN, of Birmingham, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Trunks; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and
' which said drawings constitute part of this speciiication, and represent, in
Figure 1, a side view, and in Fig. 2 an end view.
This invention relates to an improvement in trave1ing-trunks, the object being to prevent the jar and injury to the trunk which are occasioned by rolling or trundling; and it consists in contracting the top, bottom, and sides toward each end into a circular form, so that at the extreme ends the corners or angles are removed.
At the center, in transverse and longitudinal section, the trunk may be of any ofthe usual forms, substantially rectangular. Toward each end the sides, top, and bottom are contracted into a circular form, as seen in Figs.
l and 2-that is, the ends A are substantially a circle in form, and from the periphery of this circle the sides, top, and bottom expand into the usual or other desirable form at the center.
By this construction the angles or corners are removed, and in trundling ory rolling the trunk, as is the usual practice iu handling baggage, it will be rolled upon the periphery A HARVEY L. LOVVMAN.
