IMPROVEMENT IN BAG-TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,157, dated April 30, 1872; antedatcd April 11, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, TITUS H. RUssELL, of Lebanon, in the county of Grafton and in the State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ba g-Ties; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a bag-tie, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled int'li art to which my invention appertainsto make and use the same, I will now p ceed to describe its construction and open ion, referring to the annexed drawing, in WI 011- Figure 1 is a side v w, and Fig. 2 a longitudinal vertical sect in of my bag-tie. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of one of the jaws.
A representsanietal frame of any suitable dimensions, to one end of which the strap B is attached. In the ends of this frame are pivoted the jaws C (J, the outer adjoining surfaces of which are cam-shaped, so that when they are turned to one side they will clamp and hold the strap B. These outer surfaces of the jaws O (J are fluted or corrugated, as shown, and the jaws are on one side provided with cogs a a, which gear into each other, so that the two jaws will operate together with more certainty. One of the jaws, moreover, is provided with a thumb-piece, D, by means of which, together with the cogs, the said jaws are thrown apart.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The improved tie herein described, consistin g of frame A, fluted or corrugated camshaped jaws O 0 provided with interlockingcogs a a, and thumb-piece D, all constructed substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth. I
I11 testimony'that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 13th day of March, 1871.
