The washtub rover is rnade oi a single piece of sheet metal eut to a desired shape and size and provided near the opposite edges with apertures 11 and 12, as plainly indicated in Figure t. The blank is subto pressing operations hy suitable to forro a cover having a body desired result the made oix a single piece of" rupted continuity, the iiange extending integrally from the body portion 13 approxiniately at a right angle thereto, the lower edge of the 'flange being in aplane below that of the under side of the depression 14, plainly indicated in Figures 2 and 3.

The upper and under surfaces of thel body 'portion 13, :its depression 14 and the continuous flange are covered with a coating 1G, preferably ot vitreous enamel, to render the cover exceedingly smooth and? at the saine time give a highly finished appearance to the cover. The continuous Flange 15 is rounded on? at the Corners and the joint between the margin oi the body portion 13 and. the flange 15 is likewise rounded olc so as to reduce trie adherence of extraneous matter to la minimum. 'The apertures 11 and 12 previously mentioned extend in the rear and front portions ofthe flange 15 to permit of connecting the usual hinges 17 with the flange at the rear thereof and to connect the usual bumpers or oushions 18 to front portion of the flange, as plainly indicated in liigu'res l and 3.

The material employed is sheetsteel., and by constructing the cover in the manner above set forth, the cover is rendered exceedingly strong and durable, and capable of supporting various articles without danger oi warping or bending the cover, being understood that during the i' the cover is in closed position on the sntub it is used hy lumselreepors as a eli for the support of kitchen utensils, mei-ies and other articles. Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secureby Letters Patent:

In a one piece metallic Washtub cover, havingl seamless corners, downwardly projecting edges having perforations therein, bolts adapted to be passed through certain perforations, a bumper secured to the cover by 1,440,1aoe

'said bolts, means foi` lhingedly connecting -the cover to 4the tub, and bolts passing 15 through other perforations on the opposite edge of the cover for securing the last mentioned means to thecover.
