Description

A. E. GROGHAIL' SANITARY LININGI'OB BBEBIGERATOBS AND GLOSETS.

APPLIOATIOI 1-11-1111 1.41.4, 1912.

1,043,048. Patented 0015.29, 1912.

AUGUSTUS E. GROCHAU, 0F EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN.

SANITARY LINING FOR REFRIGERATORS AND GLOSETS.

Original application filed April 13, 1911, Serial N 0. 620,802.

Specification of Letters Patent.

Patented Oct. 29, 1912. Divided and this application filed March 4,

1912. Serial No. 681,453.

To all whomit may concern:

Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS E. GRO- CI-IAU, a citizen of the United States, residing at Eau Claire, in the county of Eau Claire and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Sanitary Linings fo'r Refrigerators and Closets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact de scription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to sanitary lining for refrigerators and other receptacles and has for its object the provision of a lining which may be easily and effectively cleaned.

It consists of the constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

In the drawings, Figure 1, is a perspective view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a portion of the same in unfinished condition. Fig. 3 is an enlarged perspective view of a fragment of said portion showing the same in approximately finished condition. Fig. 4, is a reduced perspective view of the back and bottom member of said lining.

In the drawings, 1, is a sheet of metal pressed or spun out to form the back portion 1 the bottom or floor portion 1 the upwardly directed flanges 1 and the forwardly directed flanges 1 the corners between said back and floor portions and said flanges being coved to avoid sharp angles and to facilitate cleaning; said back and floor portions and the flanges integral therewith, as so constructed, forming the subject matter of my co-pending application Serial Number 620,802 for Letters Patent therefor,

filed April 13, 1911, and allowed January 27 1912. The sides of said lining are formed of sheet metal bent to form inwardly directed angles ab0 at one or more places intermediate of the top and bottom edges of the sheet, the opposite ends of each of which angular portions are then pressed backwardly and flattened against the body portion of said sheet, forming the folds d, so as to close the ends of the channels formed by the angle between the upper and lower ends of said angular portions. The central portions of said angular portions abc constitute lips for supporting removable shelves within the lined closet or receptacle. These side sheets a e then secured'to said flanges of the back and fioor portion of the lining in any suitable manner, as by welding, soldering, brazing, or by rivets 2, but not so that the lower or back edges of the side sheets will fill the curved or coved corners between said flanges and the floor and rear wall portions of said lining. The lining as thus constructed is then preferably enameled on the interior faces thereof, or, if desired on both the interior and exterior faces thereof and is secured by any suitable means in the compartmentcloset or receptacle (not shown) for which it is made. The lines of connection between the sides and the flanges, and the folded ends of the angle portions a-b-c being very shallow, the enamel will make an approximately flush surface along said lines and the whole compartment may thus be easily and effectively cleaned.

What I claim is:

In a lining for refrigerators or other receptacles, a wall of sheet metal folded intermediate of its upper and lower edges to form an inwardly directed lip having an inclined lower face, the opposite ends of said lip being folded back against the body portion of said wall so as to close the ends of the channels formed by the angle between the upper and lower faces of said lip.

In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature, in presence of two Witnesses.

AUGUSTUS E. GROCHAU.

Witnesses ORLANDO G. PRICE, VIGO NIELSEN.
