'Patented Dec. 12 1922. I
UNITED STATES ANNETTA T. LIQELLER, 0F INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
POWDER PUFF.
Application filed June 19, 1920. Serial No. 390,142.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANNETTA T. MonLLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Powder Puffs, of which the following is a specification.
The object of In said invention is to provide a powder pu a hand-bag and kept clean and sanitary and also one embod ing in a single structure a multiple of devices, thereby contributing to the compactness, convenience, and economy of its structure, as well as to its sanitary characteristics, all as will be. he reinafter more fully described and claimed Referring to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof, and on which similar reference characters indicate similar parts,
Figure 1 is a View showing a powder puff of my improved construction, with the soft surface inside and one flap open or turned back, and
Figure 2 a view showing the puff turned.
Said powder puff consists of a sack-like device covered on one side with silk, or other smooth surfaced fabric A, adapted to furnish protection against dirt, etc., and the other side covered with wool, cider-down, swans-down, or any other material B appropriate for such use.' The puff is preferably composed of two substantially duplicate parts the edges of which are stitched together for somewhat more than half the circumference thereof, as to points 15. and 16, and ,the remainder left open, forming flaps adapted to be secured together by a snap fastener 10, such as a glove fastener, as shown.
In one side of the outside of'the structure is formed a pocket 11 in which is mounted an auxiliary puff l2 intended for use as a rouge puff, thus combining with the main powder puff an auxiliary puff in convenient form for use.
When, it is to be used, the main powder puff is turned to bring the soft side B out and when not in use it" is turned to bring the smooth side A out, which at such times brings the powderedside, containing the powder, wit in the enclosure and protects same from dirt, etc., maintaining the same in a sanitary condition.
which may be carried in 'turned' inside out, the portion normall Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A powder puff consisting ofv two substantially duplicate circular outer parts of smooth material and two similar circular inner parts of soft flufiy material, the edges of which are stitched together for somewhat mental protecting covering for the powder puff and a pocket for a rouge puff symmetrically placed on said covering and forming an ornamental feature thereof.
3.,A powder puff comprising a pair of substantially duplicate circular parts, each having on one side amaterial relatively im-f pervious to powder and having on the other side a soft fiufi'y mate-rial adapted to retain powder between its component fibers, the
said materials of each of said parts being.
stitched together the entire length of the circumference thereof, one of the parts being stitched to the other for somewhat more than half the circumference thereof and the remainder left open to provide for turning the puff inside out, substantially as set forth.
4. A circular powder puff adapted .to be turned inside out, the portion normall inside adapted for use as a powder pu and the portion normally outside being formed of materialaadapted to serve as a protecting cover for the powder puff and a pocket for a rouge putfplaced on said covering, sub-' stantially as set forth.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Indianapolis, Indiana this 16th day of June, A, D. nineteen hundred and twent ANNET A T. MUELLER. ,'.[L.S.] Witnesses: j M. L. SHULER,
THARE S. AoAus.
