Application led May 16,
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, RAYMOND Panne, a citizen of the United States, residing at Charleston, in the county of Kanawha and State of fest Virginia, have invented a new and useful Changeable Exhibitor, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to changeable exhibitors, and more particularly to an exhibitor designed for displaying names of streets, or designated sto-ps to be made by a street car or the like.
The primary object of the invention is to provide an exhibitor of this character which will insure the web, forming a part of the invention, being held in afiat unwrinkled condition when the same has been moved to display the name of a street.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure l is a front elevational View of the exhibitor.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on line 2 2 of Figure l.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 3 3 of Figure l.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 5 designates the box-like body portion or container, in which the spools 6 are supported, shafts 7 being shown as disposed acent to opposite sides of the body portion and carrying handles 8 on one of the respective ends thereof, by means of which the spools may be rotated.
These spools are relatively flat as clearly shown by Figure 3 of the drawing, so that when the spools are moved to bring the adjacent edges thereof into close proximity 1922. Serial No. 561,336.
with each other, the flat surfaces of the spools will present supporting surfaces for the web moving' thereover the web, which. v
indicating characters formed' 9. The cover may be of any suit-able construction, the form shown in the present drawing' being that of a transparent wall l0, having its side edges disposed within grooves 1l formed adjacent to the upper edges of the side walls of the body portion.
In the use of the device, it is conteni-y plated to support. the body portion conveniently within the car or vehicle in which the same is mounted, so that the passengers may readily view the web. It may be found desirable to place advertising matter in the respective corners of the web, so that the device will accomplish a double purpose of indicating streets or car stops as well as advertising articles. f
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is z` lin a display device, a box-like body portion, opposed spools supported to rotate within the body portion, said spools having flat surfaces, the edges of the spools adapted to move into close proximity with each other causing the flat supporting surfaces of the spools to move into alignment, a web supported by the spools and said web adapted to rest on the aligning surfaces of the spools to display matter carried thereby.
in testimony that l claim the foregoing as n y own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presenceof two witnesses.
