Burners for Carburetters.
Patented September 30, i873.

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE IRA w. sHALEE, 0E BROOKLYN, NEW YORK;
IMPROVEMENT IN BURNERS FOR CARBURETERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 143,385, dated September 30, 1873; application filed June 23, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IRA W. SEALER, of Brooklyn, county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Burners for Oarbureters, of
. which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to produce an argand burner suitable for use with carbureters by the combination of the hollow arm 4, cylindrical body 6, and jacket 5, extending above and drawn over the cylindrical body 6, as shown in the accompanying drawings, which constitute a part of this application.
Figure 1 represents a vertical section, and Fig. 2 a plan-view.
1 represents the pipe through which the gas is conducted to the burner, provided with a suitable cock, 2. Upon the top of this pipe is screwed the burner-frame 3, which consists of a hollow arm, 4, placed at right angles to the pipe, and the cylindrical body 6 extending some distance upward above it, and having a Over this cylindrical body or frame is passed a jacket, 5, which fits over the flange on the body, and which has its upper edge extending above and curved inward over the cylindrical body 6, as shown. Between this jacket and frame there is a space into which the gas passes, and then escapes upward to the flame in the form of a circle, so as to form an argand burner.
The flame formed is remarkably steady and bright.
Having thus described my invention, what Iclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The hollow arm 4, cylinder-body 3, and jacket 5, the jacket 5 extending above and curved inwardly over the top of the body 6, substantially as shown anddescribed.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I hereunto afflx my signature this 20th day of June, 1873.
IRA W. SEALER. Witnesses:
