Description

I. WEBER. Blind-Stops. Patented Septembr23,1873.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB WEBER, on NEW YORK, n. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN BLIND-STOPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 143,207, dated September 23, 1873 application filed June 2. 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AGOB WEBER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Blind Fixtures, which are simple in construction, efficient in operation, and durable in use; and consist in the combination and arrangement of the spring-knob, pinion, and rack with the blinds, as hereinafter more fully described and pointed out by the claim; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, with letters of reference marked thereon, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a front elevation of a device embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a horizontal.
section, Fig. 3 is a vertical section, and Fig. 4 is a detail view, of the operative mechanism.
A, O, and 0 represent the frame, and B the blinds, provided with metal caps D, which are formed with lips F, fitting over the ends of the blinds, and trunnions E, fitting in perforations in the bar G. The caps D upon one end of the blinds are provided with studs K, which enter perforations in the sliding bar H, which is of angular form and slotted, and held in proper position upon the frame 0 by screws J J thus making the movement of the blinds governed through the medium of the bar H.
0 represents a rack secured to the plate H, and engaging with the pinion N upon the knob stem or arbor M. The pinion N is provided with a stud, Q, which enters the perforation It in the bar H when the pinion is thrown outward by the spring T, and thus the blind is locked, and cannot be opened until the stud Q is released by pressing upon the knob P.
When the blinds are closed, press down upon the knob P until the stud is released from the perforation in the plate, and then turn the knob until the blinds are opened the desired distance. When the blinds are closed the stud comes opposite the perforation in the plate, and is thrown into the same by the spring T, and the blinds are locked again.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The bars H and G, caps D, and blinds B, in combination with rack O, arbor M, pinion N,
stud Q, and knob I, all constructed and ar-' ranged for operation as'and for the purpose specified.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this 26th day of May, 1873.
' J A0013 WEBER.
In presence of- S. N. SrMoNsoN, B. BAUMANN, It. WOLFF.
