Be it known that I, SAMUEL OBERLANDER, and resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Cutting Device and Receptacle Therefor. of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

It is a well appreciated fact that after a safety razor -blade has become dull tosuch an extentl as to render it useless for further shaving operations, that the same is usually discarded. However, despite the fact that this member might no longer possess the keenness necessary for shaving, it is by far sharper than the usual `kmfe, and thus, if the same were capable of being readily handled without injury to the user, `it would be capable of being used for a great number of purposes, instead'of being discarded.

Thus it is an object ofmyv invention to provide a container or receptacle for a razor blade by means of which the same may be safely housed, permitting of its being shipped o r carried, without any danger of the blade injuring the user.

A further object of this inventionl is the provision of a device of the character stated which may be used as a holder for the blade so that the operator may be enabled to manipulate the blade for the purpose of opening the seams, cutting material, etc. J

Among other; objects of this invention is the construction of a device of the character stated which may be'provided at an extremelynominal figure, and which wil-l occupy a minimum of space, and

Referring now more particularly to Figures l and 2 it will be seen that the receptacle provided, preferably includes a back 5 having one of its side and end edges turned 60l inwardly to provide a that the inner face of this flange is spaced from the face of the back 5 to such an extent as to permit of the disposition of a flange 7, and cover 8. between these portions.

Subsequent to this action the blade is also withdrawn and the same is placed in the position indicated in Figure 3, in which'the spaced lugsj9 are caused to extend through the conventional openings in the body of the blade, subsequent to which the cover 8 is again caused to assume its normal position with respect to the back, thus withdrawing the` numerous modifications of structure might readily be resorted to without in the least departing from the scope of my claims;

A receptacle and cutting device including a back, spaced lugs adjacent one of the side edges of said back, a flange adjacent other edges of said back, a cover adapted to be slidably associated with said-back and retained in this 'position by means of said flange and lug portion, and a blade formed with openings, said blade being norifnally disposed between said cover and back, but being capable of being associated'with said lugs by having the latter passed throu h its openings, said blade being subsequent y retained in position by depressing saidl cover again in its normal position.
