1 Claim.

This invention relates to shaving equipment, and more particularly to a safety razor.

The object of the invention is to provide a safety razor which is constructed in an inexpensive manner, so that the razor can be discarded after being used one or two times.

Another object of the invention is to provide a safety razor which has a razor blade permanently mounted therein, the razor and blade adapted to be discarded after being used one or two times, whereby a sanitary razor is provided at all times.

A further object of the invention is to provide a razor which is extremely simple and inexpensive to manufacture.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.

Figure l is a front elevational view of the razor, constructed according to the present invention;

Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral Iii designates the razor which is preferably fabricated of a single piece of suitable material, such as thin metal, and the razor I includes a handle II which is preferably tubular and cylindrical in shape. Extending from one end of the handle II is a flat section I2, and arranged at right angles with respect to the flat section I2 and projecting therefrom is a holder I4, Figure 5.

The holder I l includes a top wall I5, and arranged below the top wall I is a pair of spaced tongues or clips I 6 and I6, Figure 4. The tongues I6 and I6 coact with the top wall I5 to retain or hold therein a razor blade I'I, Figure 8, the razor blade I! being provided with a sharp cutting edge I8.

Thus, by gripping the handle II and moving the razor along the face or other part of the body being shaved, the portion of the cutting edge I8 exposed by the slot It will eifectively cut the hairs from the face. Arranged transversely with respect to the top wall I 5 and projecting therefrom is a guard bar 29, the guard bar 20 serving to help maintain the blade I? in its proper place in the holder I4, and the guard bar 20 also serving to prevent the user from being accidentally cut by the blade I'I.

Referring to Figure 7, there is shown the blank for forming the razor of the present invention. The blank of Figure 7 includes the flat section i2 and the pair of tongues I6 and I6. These tongues I6 and I6 are adapted to be bent about the crease line 2|, Figure 7, after the blade I! has been properly positioned therein, so that the tongues I6 and IE will coast with the wall I5 to maintain the razor blade in its proper position. Also, the guard bar 29 is adapted to be folded or bent along the crease line 22, Figure 7, so that the guard bar 2!] occupies the position shown in Figures 1 through 6.

From the foregoing, it is apparent that a razor has been provided, the razor having a blade permanently mounted therein, so that after the razor has been used one or two times, the entire razor and blade can be discarded. The razor Ill can be easily formed from the blank illustrated in Figure 7, so that the cost of manufacture is extremely small. Therefore, the razor can be discarded without placing an undue financial burden on the user. Also, the construction of the tongues, top wall and guard bar insures that the user will be able to effectively shave himself without having the blade slip from the holder, or without danger of accidentally cutting himself. The blade cannot be changed, so that the razor is advantageous from a sanitary point of view.

I claim:

In a disposable razor adapted to be discarded after being used several times, said razor being fabricated of a single piece of material and including a tubular handle, a flat section projecting from one end of said handle, a holder extending from such flat section and arranged at right angles with respect thereto, said holder being provided with a slot in its front end, said slot having its ends terminating short of the ends of said holder, said holder adapted to confine a razor blade therein and with the razor blade cutting edge arranged contiguous to such slot, a pair of tongues spaces below said holder for maintaining said razor blade in said holder, and a guard bar arranged transversely with respect to said holder and extending downwardly therefrom, said tongues having their front ends spaced from said guard bar, said guard bar being arranged parallel to said flat section.
