FOUNTAIN PAINTBRUSH.
Application lled November 4, 1920. Serial No. 421,617.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, STANLEY GRZEBINSKI, a citizen of Poland, residing at Ituna, in the county of Lost Mountain, in the Province of Saskatchewan and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fountain Paintbrushes, of which the following is a specification.
The main object of this invention is the provision of a fountain paint brush having means to protect the same when not in use and to prevent leakage of paint from the said brush, as well as to provide such a brush which is useful and practical.
The above and other objects will become apparent in the' description below, in which llike characters of reference refer to likenamed parts in the drawings.
Referring briefly to the drawings, Fig. 1 is a complete view of the device.
Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the brush thereof, ready for use.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the device shown in Fig. 4.
F ig. 4 is an enlarged fragmentary side elevational view of the brush, in cross-section, when the same is out of use.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 1 represents the handle of the brush having a channel or tube 4 extending therethrough and branching into three distributing openings 5, 6, and 7, situated within the brush material 3, the same heing attached in the usual manner to the frame 2 which is essentially flat.
A flexible tube 8 connects the tube 4 with a tank or bag 9 containing the paint, the same being provided with a strap 11 by which it may be supported upon the shoulders of the user.
Specication of Letters Patent.
The protective means is indicated generally at 12, and comprises telescopic members 13, 14, and 15, all of which are adapted to slide down about the neck 17, the member 15 being provided with flanges 16 t0 prevent complete withdrawal of the tective means when being extended. To the upper member 13 a cover 18 is hingedly attached at 19, anda clip 20 upon the niember releasably locks the cover in place. As is apparent in Fig. 2, which shows the protective means collapsed, the cover 19 is folded back upon its hinges and caught by the clip` 22, which releasably retains the cover While the brush is in use. Another clip 21 releasably retains the protective means in collapsed position on the other side of the neck 16.
Thus it is obvious that I have provided a fountain paint brush which is practical in use and which may be protected when idle so as to prevent leakage or undesiredcontact of the wet brush withwalls or other places when the brush is idle.
I claim: l
' A brush comprising 'a handle having bristles set in one end, a neck portion formed with said handle adjacent the bristles, conic ltelescopic elements slidahle on said neck, adapted when extended to envelop the bristles, a cover hingedly engaging the outermost of said telescopic elements, and re- Patented Aug. 15, 1922. I
pro-
silient means on said handle adjacent said v neck adapted to engage and confine said elements when retracted and disposed on the neck.
In testimony whereof I affix lny signature.
STANLEY GRZEBINSKI.
