With the foregoing and other objects in` view, the invention resides in the certain novel and useful construction and arrangement as will be hereinafter more fully described, as set forth in the appended claims,
and illustrated in the accompanying'drawing, in which Figure'l is a side elevation, partly in section, of the preferred form and conguratio of the toy, and
Figure 2 is a horizontal section taken on the line 2--2 of kFigure 1.
Beferring'to the drawing, the numeral 10 indicates a. body portion or member, preferably formed of a. suitable length of tubular wooden or metal stock open at both of its ends, and constituting the handle of the toy. Movable vertically of the body or handle 10 is a rod 11 upon the upper end of which is secured a supporting plate 12 having an intermediate portion normally resting in flat contacting relation on the upper end of the body or handle. The plate 12 is l preferably of sheet metal and is pro-vided with a forwardly and downwardly curved portion 18 and a rearwardly and upwardly inclined or angularly Vdisposed portion 14,'

`For impa'r-,ing'f'avv vertical.A reciprocatory =movement to the'rod 11,4a flexible actuatingvl medium 17, such a suitable length of cord or thelike, is provided, and the samel is trained over a supporting elementlor' pin 18 extending transversely of the upperlend` portion of the bodyor handle 10 to one sider of the center of the-boreA of thetubeto g ,jivey y clearance for thefree movement ofthe rod past the same, one end of the flexibleIne- 90'` diurn 17 being secured, as at 19, tothe' lower end ofthe rod 11, and the other end thereof depending free of thelower openl end of the body or handle 10 andbarrying ,av finger" piece or ring 2O at its extremity. L
. In the manipulation of the toy thus provided, the rod 11, with the attached character portions, is to be projected upwardly ofl the body or handle y10 by the pulling of the freel depending` end ofthe flexible medium or cord 17 in a downward direction withone hand, while the body or handle is firmly 'y so f l parts thereof may he resorted to without departing from the Spirit oi the invention or from the scope of the appended claims.
Ha-Vlno' thus full described the invention u t., n L 9 what is claimed is l. A to f coinorisinp a tubular handle `nor- .J l D l tion, a rod movable in the handle portion` a head ortion havino a fanciful Conouration p b Y, carried at one end of said rod, and means for lmparting` a reoiprooatory movement to saidrod. l f
